Sooo, it seems like I remember someone over on AZ claiming that a certain dose of throttle from a stop (that was short of what one might consider a full-on “launch”) or a brake/accelerator overlap on take off was resulting in his launch counter registering another launch.
In other words, I’m wondering if there are instances when people are having launches logged on the counter without actually going through the motions that they believe yield a launch - and they wake up one day and find that they are at 200.
Once the 200 launches have been registered, can the car still be effectively “launched” by the mash technique that some use to good success at the strip?
Mash and go technique is good, however, I nailed my best 60’ using GIAC’s launch control. I cut a 1.60 and consistently was cutting <1.69 all day with it. Being a drag strip guy, I like to have all options available as well.
For a dealer to reset the lc counter, the mech has to be replaced. This happened to an s6 owner on az and he wrote a legal letter to Audi asking for it to be replaced because no where do they indicate a 200 limit in their marketing materials. False advertising kinda deal.
Who says? I say you don’t. You say you do. Audi says you do (because Audi is trying to make money and protect their investment). Audi also says you need to replace the ECU if it has been tuned, which is bullshit.
You can definitely fix this, you just need to find someone who is familiar with the Ecu. Like anything else this is just electronic data on the Ecu, you just need to find someone who knows the Ecu and find te location for the counter and delete it or reset it or adapt it.
I’m really sad to hear that. I just picked up a '12 S4 this weekend after totaling my '12 GTI…can’t wait to get my hex+can cable to check out how many launches remain…Never ever would’ve even thought of this being a restriction.
Just wanted to bump this thread for Jones. I just wanted to mention that I believe the GTR was limited on the LC uses but people found out how to reset them. I know it’s just words on my part but if there is a counter and numbers stored somewhere you would be able to reset them even if it’s a flash type.
