Hitting the drag strip...North Edition

This thread reserved for where and when. (You guys who are thinking E-town / ATCO should start a thread too, so the crickets don’t take over… )

As far as I can see the venues are:

1.) TMP Cayuga, first test n tune starting April 6th and 7th, Sat and Sun, 11am-4pm, 1+ hours from GTA

2.) Thompson (Prime may want to fill in the schedule), 4 hours from GTA

3.) Norwalk/Summit Raceway, April 20th, 8am - 8pm, 5+ hours from GTA

4.) St Thomas Motorsports Park, in Sparta, ON, open March 31st 11am-4 pm test n tune, Sat and Sun. 2+ hours from GTA

I’m all for Cayuga option #1, but lets discuss. I’m open to any of them really.

J, Thompson is open from 10am to 5pm for t-n-t on Saturday’s… It’s $20 on Sat. to t-n-t vs $12 on Wed. Wed. don’t start until the first Wed. in May. Again, I am flexible and will need to wait and see how the weather is before I commit… I don’t have winters so I can’t risk having to travel through snow which we have seen here in early April many times as I am sure you have in Toronto as well… Let’s see what others say and go from there…

M.I.R is open March 2 and 3rd for test and tune

Yeah, MIR is a little too far east for us here…Maybe it’s worth merging the East coast guys in this thread too, considering there’s not much response…interesting…maybe a little too early!

Well I don’t even have a car I really want to run right now, not at the drag strip anyhow. I’d rather try to come out with one of my dad’s cars if the weather is all right, and/or push my brother to get his old 11-sec SN95 at the track.

But I’d love to see the action go down if we can get Prime vs. Bear, salmon’s AWE car, maybe some B7 vs B8 rivalry, you know, fun stuff. And as I said, I’ll throw 110 race gas in a stage II 6MT 3.0T willing to try for the first 11-second run…would be nice to see that happen.

:o

I wonder if B8s can run at the track without race gas ;D

Yep it’s cheap… Best part is I usually leave the office early and get there right when they open and get several passes in before it gets crowded… Sometimes I stick around for bracket racing but usually bail once that starts at 8pm…

LOL! My car hasn’t seen less than 100 gas since it had 2,200 miles on it :stuck_out_tongue:

I’d say that Cayuga would be the best option as it’s local for a lot of the individuals that would attend. To be fair though, If some of the US guys come up for a weekend to Cayuga I’d be willing to travel with a group of GTA guys down to Thomson or similar distance track in the US if the opportunity presented itself.

Thomson is nothing. It’s a short trip down there for you guys. Maybe a day trip even, but likely an overnighter.

How will you get back from here…? Lol prime, it gets pretty expensive here

It’s 220ish miles… fill up here to get there… bring a pail of Shell URT for the track and then fill up at the track(website says they have race fuel as I checked ;D) for the trip home… easy peesy… not sweating the cost…

sounds like no

Run what ya brung and I’ll be bringing the URT! LOL I’m sure J will brew some special sauce for Bear so I gotta be prepared! LOL

$15 / gallon. Nice not to have to sweat the costs

No doubt if we had a “pump gas” day, there would be some race fuel being snuck into fuel tanks. So it might as well be run what you brung!

I think Cayuga would be good.

Lol I just lent him what I had…local 110…I still have a couple jugs. If anyone wants a spike of MTBE or toluene I have some… Yeah I don’t sweat the cost either. It’s a fuckload cheaper than a track day…! I think I’ve paid for the APR stage III upgrade in the last few years in lapping days alone.

I’d be stoked if everyone came like last April…we had a little of everything, B5, 6, 7, 8.

Yeah, I think we’re all pretty open about high test. Without a tune, we all know it’s not doing us any favours except maybe saving the motor if it’s hot out.

TMP Opens April 6th. Who’s in? (or should we wait until the 7th in case they have their usual timing issues, especially on the first day of the year. Their equipment might be rusty hehe)

That weekend might actually work for me. IIRC their kit stops working when it gets too cold.

I’m good for then, really any weekend so long as I know a bit in advance, so we hadn’t made family plans to go up north.

FWIW it’s been a long winter and I’d be dying to race something by then, circuit or drag strip.
