if your in the ghetto… what the hell am i living in? lol
$2.99USD/sq ft.
My plan was to run the freeflow under the cars to the garage door and then run the diamond pattern in the rest of the area.
bought from where? then what is the cost of shipping and customs/duties/taxes? Probably turns into $4.25 or so?
Can you expand on what you mean there? What’s freeflow? I don’t speak Garagese!
They make several types of tile…the freeflow is what you posted. It’s open to the ground and rain/snow/crap can drain from the top, out the door and down the driveway. There other types are solid tiles. All the stuff stays on top and can be swept or washed off. IMO, the freeflow would work better around the cars so the water drains easier but the solid tiles make sense around the perimeter so the dirt etc. doesn’t accumulate.
The freeflow is 2.99/sqft and my order (~380sqft) was going to be $165 shipped to my US address in NY. Additional duty BS would be on top of that. $4.00 sq/ft all in is a good guess.
lol, well I guess by that description I live in the ghetto too. BTW, a drain can be added to an existing slab for ~$800-$1,000 if you’re dead set on having one. They do make a lot of sense.
A slight grade will do the job. That’s why I first use a hose to rinse down the crap and then follow up with the leaf blower to keep things dry. I still have a long way to go with my garage reno, other priorities have taken the lead unfortunately.
I’m still rocking a plain concrete slab, no coating, no paint no flooring/tiling.
^^^same here. Ghetto garage brother! Does your slab have a crack?
I see those garages online and feel like I’m abusing my car lol.
Check this out…Cory, pretty tight fit, but he makes it work
LOL, that’s not tight at all…I’ve seen pics of someone that cut a small section out of his ceiling (directly above the car) to fit I’ll see if I can find it.
This is a 10ft ceiling…
Here’s the one…
^^ haha that’s pretty determined. I WILL make this work!
One side note, if you’re working on the cars in the garage, I’ve seen some of those tilings crack due to jacks stands or jacks themselves. I’m sure some tiling products are better than others, but I’d be pissed if I bought a garage tiling and had it slightly crack the first time I put a jackstand on it.
Also, the pattern tiles and painted floors are a killer finished look, but be careful, but when it comes to dropping a small screw, it can be a nightmare to find sometimes. But the speckle pattern etc do help to cover up any spills or stains later on.
Anyhow, look forward to you updating your decision and it’s a project I’m sure you’ll get a lot of return from.
Jeez you suburbanites and your massive garages lol.
I’m stuck using these ramps to do the normal maintenance stuff. They seem pretty short but I can get back about 2/3rds of the car pretty easily if I have another 1" block under the rear wheels too.
Cory, make sure you take lots of in progress pics once you start. Garage builds are always fun to follow.
That doesn’t look very downtown. You are a suburbanite too…just east vs west
Bought a new house and so…garage sorting time.
It’s relatively large compared to my old one which was 20x18 but was actually only 16 feet on the one side.
This one is 30x33 total with about 7 feet of width on the left lost due to the stairs. So around 26 wide by 30 deep.
Plan to do a polymer floor of some sort, some cabinets, a tool wall and a pulley for my kayak. I will also likely mount the winters on the back wall or just stack them back left. There’s boatloads of depth.

After moving in I found this nice surprise although I will only use it when I’m doing something in the garage in winter.

Funniest thing about this reasonably massive garage is that the previous owner thought it was only a one car garage because it only had one door. So for one whole year of Toronto area winter he parked outside while his wife had the garage lololol. You could park two H2 hummers in there.
Even with all of our shit in the garage post move (most of which will be moved somewhere out of the way) there’s still tons of room. I’m stoked about that because our old house the garage was positively tight as a snails shell.

Close on my first house on Thursday next week. After 8 years with no garage ill finally have a little 1.5 car garage. Looking forward to figuring that situation out and where i can store stuff and whatnot. I would love to invest in a Quickjack as a two post i think would be a bit much for that space.

Maybe I’ll wait another year still. No rush.
How the new place? Still in Oakville?
