So i’m in the process of shopping around homeowner’s insurance quotes and was wondering if anyone on here had any advice/recommendations on companies to avoid or gravitate towards?
State Farm has been great in both service and cost.

Ask your hr department if your firm has a plan deal with a provider
+1
(in with a group plan though - hopefully they’re decent in a standalone situation too)
I’m currently with State Farm and they’re wonderful until you have a claim, then they nickel and dime you to death until you get frustrated and give-up. A broker wouldn’t be a bad idea to consider.
This… we get huge discounts through both our employers for almost everything you can think of. Insurance included.
Try to get house and car from one place for more discounts

If you do that then they can also drop you from both plans, auto and home, if they feel like it. It doesn’t usually happen that way but can.
Consumer Reports might be a good place to look. You might have to pay for the online subscription to see the rankings

That’s odd, I had a much different experience… First claim ever this year, cut me a check on the spot for almost $11k more than I anticipated. No issues at all for us.
Just recently bought a place and bundled home/auto with Travelers going through a broker.
shit, forgot about this… ended up going with Amica (company my parents have used for home/auto for quite some time). Thanks for the recommendations though.
