How many Horsepower you can get out of your S6 V10 And is there anyone who has made their cylinder head Cnc machined
Is there no one who has had their S6 on the dyno After they have been tuned ???
The formula for hp on your S6 5.2 is JHM
The JHM tune is proven and makes what appears to be twice the power of any other tune.
The big reason you wont see many dynos is the past results havent been great. Other companys advertise big hp but when people put them on the dyno the results say otherwise. Now to be fair the ECU system on the 5.2 motors will go into protection mode and cut hp if the motor gets too hot and almost everytime you put one of these super hot 5.2 cars on the dyno your going to over heat the car and trigger that.
So what was happening was companies to try and make the results of these other brand X tunes not look or feel so bad they would have people get a tune after a carbon clean. depending on your carbon situation you can loose as much as 20 or more hp due to carbon build up. that was a popular scam for shops for a while and the truth was most tunes didnt really do anything. Until the JHM tune. Let me explain.
Throw the dyno numbers out the window for a second even tho the JHM tuned header and catback car made 100whp/100wtq over stock. other companies have been using dyno results to try and manipulate customers so lets use something that cant be fooled.
the 1/4 mile
brand X tunes on the S6 have resulted in 14.0 -13.8 1/4 mile results.and the 3 brand X tuned cars that posted faster than 14.0 had catback systems… and still the results were basicaly close to stock. stock is about 14.0 for a good condition S6
JHM tuned S6 and S8 cars have all been getting 1/4 mile times in the low 13s and 12s depending on your supporting mods. This isnt the first time JHM has acheved this. Look at the S5 4.2 and the S4 4.2 na V8s its the same thing. Night and day difference in gaps in performance in JHM tuned cars vs brand X. Also JHM is very active in the 5.2 V10 market currently so its good to support the companies that are still active.
All in all I know since dyno results have been manipulated and are over inflated by companies a lot of audi platforms have been saying save the dyno sheet show us the 1/4 mile slip. With that alone JHM clearly shows a biggest gap.
There is a lot of available acceleration and power mods available from JHM
the intake spacers really really really help keep the heat in check and keep intake temps down while helping keep knock down and power up.
The LW crank pulley from JHM drops a huge amount of rotational weight off the crank I think its like 10lbs but I cant remember exactly off hand.
And then there is the 2.7" catback system. big improvements there as well.
JHM also has a blower kit in the works if your looking for a much bigger hp jump
Thank you for your reply , are your cylinder heads machined or you don t get anythings out of it ??i need to have my intake cleaned. The car has been driven 100.000 mil I know you can do it when the pages on the engin but i take them of and get them cnc machined .
Deffinintly get a carbon and intake clean. Also make sure you service the injectors. Almost all 5.2 motors have had bad or low flow injector issues.
From the heads question. from everything I have heard the intake side of the heads are just fine. The only power in the 5.2 cylinder heads would be from the exhaust side and you would need to pull the heads off obviously to perform that work. How much hp is there in getting the exhaust side ported. don’t know for sure but I do know that there is cheaper better things that can make a big hp impact that are cheaper. the JHM tune being one of them.
If I’m reading his post correctly, he’s talking about having the heads decked - I’m doubtful raising the compression a bit would have any beneficial effect considering the time and labor involved. Portwork? Sure, but IMO only after you’ve done all the above supporting mods, custom exhaust headers, installed the blower kit and are still looking for gains anywhere you can get them…
Justin knows what’s up; bang for your buck, repleace all the leaking seals, flowmatched injectors, thorough carbon clean, phenolic spacers, ECU tune, new coils, new plugs, R&R the whole vac and PCV system, catback, LW rotors, LW wheels and you’re running solidly in the 12’s guaranteed.
Also guaranteed, unless you’ve don’t the above you’ve got issues that need to be addressed long before you start thinking about decking the heads…
$0.02
Thank you again for your reply . I will be ordering JHM crank pulley intake spacers . I have cat-back Milltek and new coil is there anything else i should by ??
The intake spacers are great a big must when you consider all they do. And the crank pulley is just a great way to help the motor rev up faster and free up some of that traped hp.
Maintenance wise -
Did you do a carbon clean
Have you checked or testing your injectors
How old is your oil separator/PCV unit
how old is your fuel filter.
Have you inspected your intake manifold
carbon will hold the car bad and if left unchecked cause long term issues to the motor and hp
When i have the spacer i Will make carbon clean . Pcv unit has never ben changed as far AS i know , fuel filter new , intakte manifold Will be cleaned when i clean intake and the same with injektor . Is the dyno and opd tuning Preferred instead of the jhm tune ???
