Hot interior issue

My A/C doesn’t work. I have learned to live with it but recently it seems like I’m getting hot air in the car with everything turned off. I don’t feel any hot air blowing from the vents from what I can reach while driving. I’ve vented the cooling system by loosening the expansion tank cap multiple times thinking maybe there is air in the system since the water pump was just replaced. Is this normal? It seems like it is hotter in the car than outside sometimes.

I drive with my windows down and use the A/C about 2% during summer.
Sometimes the short drive home it feels warmer in the car then You would think and
the metal part of the key when I take it out is almost too hot to hold.

AC in our cars suck. If it’s more than a bit warm outside it’s pretty much useless. I just roll down the windows.

The heat inside is likely due to the leather seats which are fantastic at sucking in heat. When I’m suited up going to business meetings I recline my seat waaay down so my back doesn’t touch it, or by the time I get there my back is soaked ;D

My AC kicks ass, untill it just crapped on me right as it was going into the shop for my cams. I just ordered a new compressor, thats probably what your problem is. Buy a new one at 700$ or go used from a wrecking yard for around 200$ and I’m sure it will be fixed. Should take it too a shop to diagnose it first obviously before dumping the money as it cost me like 300 to get the new compressor installed.

Also high quality window tint will help keep your car cool the most to allow the AC to function easily. . If you use crappy tint your car will just get hot inside as if it didn’t have any tint at all. The difference in quality tint vs shotty low end is night and day.

What you are feeling is the heat from the engine getting into the cabin area.

This has been a common Audi problem for a long time. Supposedly it has been fixed with B7+ cars. Even with the 1.8t from my first Audi I used to get this. With the 4.2 it’s ridiculous.

When your A/C works it’s no big deal, just turn some air on. When your A/C is broken it like sitting in an oven. I’ve sworn I was going crazy and thought my seat heaters were even on since I was getting so hot and my back/ass was sweating so bad

has not been fixed with the B7 cars. My B7 S4 was always hot in the summer. My B7 RS4 is exactly the same.

Can’t say I’ve experienced it on a B6 S4 in the summer to say whether it’s the same or worse (although I did drive one for a week in the fall a long time ago and didn’t notice it) but I can assure you it’s still a factor on the later 8E models.

Do you just mean that your car got hot during the summer with no A/C?

or could you literally feel a shit-ton of coming from the footwells? I’ve always wanted to have a temp gauge with me because I swear sometimes I think the temp in my footwells is over 150 degrees F.

There was a thread with a poll about this a couple years back in the B6/7 S4 section and every B6 guy went on about how hot it got by your feet, and pretty much every B7 owner but like 1 said they had no idea what we were talking about

The heat is coming from the engine down at the footwells. Sounds like this is normal. The black ducts under the dash near the gas pedal get extremely hot. I guess I will just have to get used to it. I didn’t notice it before but now that both of my front windows will not go down (regulators!) the hot air just swirls around me. At least it will start to get cooler soon.

I’m talking heat in the footwell that is making it past the firewall.

My garage is well hot in the summer 30 minutes after I park my car in there. I hang wet stuff up to dry (i.e. golf stuff if I’ve been out in the rain) and it dries real quick.
