how many of you guys have headers?

the funny funny thing about the cost is that is almost all materials. 321 stainless is expensive as straight pieces (especially for the small OD pipe used for the primaries), and the bends are even more. plus the vibrant vbands at $70 a pop, flex pipes, the thick laser cut flanges, a few hundred $$ in collectors and the hardware/gasket kit. Even on common platforms like camaros the quality headers are big money (look at the cost for American Racing Headers or Stainless Works).

the tri-y is actually a better setup for motors that spend their life at high rpm… now the RS4 tri-y isnt the best example of the breed, and no one is doing circle track racing so the 4-1 would probably be a better fit.

yup, fortunately Audi stepped up with the RS4 headers vs the S4 manifolds.

that red car is ‘2000S4’. His car has just about every JHM RS4 mod possible except carbonator and supercharger. It sounds and looks fantastic.

interesting with the RS4 tri-y headers how their length means the pre-cats are moved about a foot farther from the engine. Should help a little…but I imagine it’s not as effective at heating the engine up.

I bet that’s why the RS4 idle’s cold at 1600 rpm…to heat up quicker (my old S4 idled cold at about 1000-1100).

Wow cold starts at 1600?? My neighbors bitch about my 1100 rpm starts. 1600 would start a war

^you need something louder in the neighborhood for awhile to make them realize the S4 isnt too bad… my brother did that for me, cold start on his T/A sounded like a cannon and then camming out would last for about 10 minutes… so now in comparison my cars are a welcome reduction in volume, so no one complains because they know it can be worse haha

^ So true.^ A few of my neighbors are hardcore Harley guys (more like mid-life crisis guys) and two out of three have complete open exhaust and the third has a glass packed system. I’m no longer the moise maker…selling my sport bike has also helped in that arena.

funny I can relate. I would say my 3.0 is loud enough to do this but lets be hionest. Its not. So Im happy to hear one B6 car is ;D
