I have a 2007 B7 S4 that is new to me with only 18K on the odo. I would like to get one trip to the track before the North West Indian Summer ends. Would like some opinions on how to launch this car in the 1/4 to get the best times, if power-breaking will help the launch, and any other techniques to get a great time with a stock car. The runs I have planned will be my baseline starting point for any future mods that I add to the car! Thanks!!
Hey there welcome to the forum. Sounds like a pristine car with barely a years mileage on it.
In not sure on launching but I believe Justincredible is the guy to ask. Considering he has the fastest tip S4 time we should probably listen to him!
As far as changing gears etc he advocates putting it in S mode and leaving it and letting the car shift itself.
Welcome and thanks sakimano. If your going to listen to anyone let it be sakimano is has been the affirmative member in the know for years.
If you stock. Then its just gas and go. The Stock ECU program isn’t going to give you much help. The JHM launch assist will be the time you want to break boost the car. knowing the outside temps you should be able to get into the high 13s or low 14s.
Check the video out here as there is a video for the JHM launch assist for the automatic guys.
The stock Tq converter lock up is.

JHM LA for the supercharger NOS and header guys is more like 2650

Thanks for the replies… going to the track isn’t a done deal yet and this is just too nice of a car to mess with right now! I had a family member that was going to trade this car off for a truck, so I had to intervene and buy it ASAP.
were they the first owner? pretty cool
dragstrip won’t hurt your car any more than driving it briskly the way you probably do every day, so I wouldn’t consider it ‘messing with’ the car. Just an evlauation of how it is accelerating.
I don’t know of any B6/7 guys who have had dragstrip troubles other than one guy who had his accessory belt pop off, but he had that happen on the street a few times too.
However I know half a dozen guys who have blown motors money shifting at the road course…and they all wear out tires/brakes/control arms on the road course as a matter of routine. Always made me laugh when the roadracesuperstars like mick would argue the dragstrip is hard on the car/dangerous moreso than the road course. A few years of doing track days on their cars and they change their tune after spending thousands on premature wear and tear, while the guys who go to the dragstrip a couple times a year continue to be just fine thanks.
My father in law was the second owner. The car came from California where it was an Audi cooperate car for track side transportation. When my FiL bought the car, it had a partial wrap with checkers flag motif that he had the dealership remove before delivery.

All of this information I was told as a third party and cannot independently verify. I’m still pressing for a picture of the car with the wrap, but don’t think one exist in the family. I was in the mid-east when all of this went down, so I have an alibi!
This is a great road car that replaced my BMW 135i. I’m really happy to be back into an Audi and don’t have ant issues with the car!
The Audi Driving Experience cars had that wrap too…basically track day mules that got raped repeatedly by inexperienced drivers lol.
Hopefully your car wasn’t one of those. I can’t see them using a tip for the ‘driving experience’. They were mostly RS4s back in the day. Here’s an example…
for the track day experience, was there anything mounted to the dashboard?? I’ll talk to the FiL today to see if that was the wrap he had removed. Is there any database of cars used in the track day experience to see what additional maintenance was done to these vehicles prior to sale??
if it was used at the driving experience, it would have had a boatload of new parts, starting with all new tires, new brakes, and probably a very thorough going over
as I said though it’s doubtful they would use a tiptronic B7 S4 in 2007. They have other race programs and VIP programs they have at various race series, and it is much more likely your car was a shuttle.
p.s. found this photo while searching, and had to post it

I’m thinking VIP transport with the TIP and all… maybe a few trips around the track to scare a girlfriend or wife… but who knows? As it stands, the car is in excellent condition, and the front of the engine below the left and right cam covers is very clean, the car pulls strong and handles great, and I have to pinch myself every now and then because I got it!! Looking at the weather for the first week in October gives me the impression that a track day is out of the question until 2013. Thanks for all of the great info… and If I’m able to sneak off to the strip, I’ll let everyone know how it goes!!
do you have vagcom? would be cool to log the car too while stock.
Nope on the VAGCOM
Where are you located? Maybe there is a forum member nearby who would have a vagcom setup
In the pac northwest, about 45 minutes south of Seattl
