Hows it going everyone!

Hi everyone. I’ve been lurking on these forums for a while but have never actually made an account. Long time Audi fan. Have owned a 2004 A4 3.0, 2008 A6 4.2 and now I have picked up a 2008 Audi S6 with 6,000 miles. Reading the info dump of V8A6 the past few years, he convinced that I needed this car. Currently my ultimate 5 year plan with this car is the first ever 1000hp. Very ambitious I know but hopefully with enough money and sweat anything is possible. I have owned my S6 for about a year now and have done some very basic mods but the state is live in is very boring for anything aftermarket so it has been very hard to find someone not afraid to experiment.

Currently the only work I have done is CAI which I think I want redone because I feel like the are not far forward enough and a custom catback exhaust made by a local shop(think it might be better to switch to JHM), as well as some minor cosmetic and preventive mods I was able to do in my garage with minimal tools. Currently I’m also looking for a shop to get rid of my cats, but every shop has some type of excuse for why they can’t do it. I was told this was the best place to come to achieve my goal and find people willing to help.

Things I want to get done ASAP: cat delete, tune, equal length headers and decide whether I want to use this motor as the starting platform or maybe somehow by the grace of God find an RS6 motor for sale on German Ebay. Any help is greatly appreciated and thanks again!

Welcome! 1000HP is ambitious!!! You’d have to switch to the RS6’s V10TT (or turbo your V10 5.2) to get those numbers. There’s several RS6 engines in the euro markets, but I can’t imagine the shipping rates!

OH SHIT… team 3.0 member here. Team 4.2 member here and soon to be 5.2. I think I might have found a good S6 that isn’t too ragged out.

The CAI is a hard one. If you really do it right you can’t leave the filters in the engine bay. There is just too much heat in there. People in the past tried this only to get lower hp due to the ECU seeing the jump in intake temps and pulling back power.

So something to think about there.

As for the exhaust. The JHM unit is 2.75" its a monster. Price wise its actually less than other smaller exdhaust systems that don’t do crap… Its worth the money espically if you are looking to make big power.

Your way ahead of a lot of others. Getting the bolt on Rs6 turbos would really go a long way to making a big chunk of power.

For now. The cats are going to be a bit of a job as you really need to pull the motor to get to all 4 cats. You have 2 sets of 2 cats for the primary cats and its a bit of work. You can get the JHM headers but if your looking to step up later to the RS6 turbos maybe just pulling the cats would be a good idea.

Do that and then the tune and the car will really wake up. JHM should be offering their Transmission software soon as well. That helps unlock power ontop of how much power the JHM ECU tune gives so there is some easy low hanging fruit to get your chops wet.

Welcome to the forum. Everyone here is friendly. So post as much as you wish no question is laughed at here.

Unless you want to be silly and simply start bolting on Lamborghini parts to try and look cool. Then some of us might chime it…

(Hey, we all have our limits as to what we’ll tolerate ;D )

I’m not sure but I feel like bolting on Lamborghini parts is not how this is going to work Haha. I’ve heard of a few people saying it makes a difference but if the motor isn’t revving high enough I feel like all that is pointless. Maybe that would work if you changed the internals, stroke, cams, compression ratio etc. But that seems extremely complicated/impossible. My goal more or less is to turn the current motor into the rs6 one.

if you’re serious about hitting 1000hp, my suggestion is to buy an RS6 and then go to Dallas Performance in Dallas,TX. Their bread and butter is turbo upgrades for gallardos and R8s. I’m sure they could figure out how to get you those numbers

Yeah lambo parts don’t work. Different RPM curve and different weight issues. The few that have tried this actually lost hp in most of the rev range. As the S6 and S8 rev to 6800 not 8000 big difference in power delivery.

The other issue with going to TT route like the R8 and Gallardo is that they are rear motor cars so the rear of the motor is exposed and much eiser to bolt things to.

I think the common sense thing is do the maintenance. do your plugs coils intake spacers carbon clean check your PCV system and pull the cats if you so wish and then look at a stronger catback like the JHM then the JHM tune is good to go.

I know the JHM guys love custom stuff so if you got the turbos from a RS6 they would be game to help tune it. As that is going to be one of the largest hurdles your going to be looking at.

All in all the RS6 idea is a really good one but its not plug and play remember. The RS6 is a 5.0 you have a 5.2 so there are some differences. It might be worth exploring.

My advice. Get a RS6 set of manifolds and turbos. Pull the motor to knock out the cats. Try to bolt up the RS6 manifolds and then you will get a good idea on what your really working with.

This is why I joined this place, so much good useful info. Do you think I should already start looking at maintenance though? Since I only got the car with six thousand miles on it?

FWIW the exhaust manifrold gasket for the 2008-2011 RS6 is the same p/n as the 2007-2012 R8.

I was thinking of the same thing too. 6k isn’t very many miles but its worth looking everything over. the intake spacers are a good performance plus along with a good long term carbon fighter. while it has 6k it still is 10 years old. So a good check and a good once over isn’t a bad idea.
