HPA Motorsports

Anyone on here done any business with them? I took a quick tour of their main facility last week, was quite impressed.

They make beautiful stuff although a lot of it is just rebranded HGP stuff.

What are you looking to do with them?

They don’t do a heck of a lot outside of 3.2L VR stuff and of course their famous 4mo conversions and now the HPA scirocco’s (if you got 100k+ to spare).

They are gaining a lot of traction with their TDI conversions for jeeps. I think that is pretty cool. Other thing they do is DSG software but I am starting to hear that United Motorsports tune is better. They are now trying to get into the 2.0T game but I think we can all agree that they are a bit late to the game on that one (and their european car GP performance was anything but stellar sitting at the bottom of the pack this year)

I think in the end it depends on what you are looking to do with them, only thing I can say is that you better have some deep pockets.

Stuff for my GLI, tune downpipes etc. They showed me all their TDI stuff, they were actually filming a documentary on it at the time, a jeep that gets over 30mpg, preeeetty sweet.

I had a long chat with their calibrator about how their tune worked, he went into a lot of detail on the way they tuned, which was really cool. Since I’m local he said he would do a custom tune based off their OTS file at no extra charge. The 2 GLI’s they built and ran in the SCCA last year did really well. They gave me some links to watch them online. What did they run in the European GP?

Retail on the Tune is 599, dp is 699 their pricing seemed in line with the other manufacturers, plus they offered to work out a combo deal. The reason I’m considering them is the support they will provide. They stand quite strongly behind their product. The other local shops I’ve talked to have had more of a ‘you’re on your own’ attitude towards the tune if anything goes wrong.

Still a ways off, they recommended to wait for at least my first oil change before tuning.
