So you think this really is the last of the V8 MT for S cars? That would be tragic - well, for all of you guys who drive manual lol. Dual clutch not that bad of an alternative. It performs better on the track. Just sayin. Oh ya, and RS5. ;D

Re the DSG: the North American market, IIRC, is the only one where you can get a B8 S4 with a stick. Europe is DSG only from 2013 onwards. I guess Audi has decided that a 3rd pedal is old news.

their supercharger kit forthe S5 is still a ways away, and by then primetime will likely have sold his S4. They are going to work on a great suite of all motor mods first
Once they run a respectable time with an all motor setup, they will look at the supercharger. This is what they said they were going to do about 12-18 months ago, but that may have changed. It’s funny, not a lot of people know they had a B8 clutch and flywheel back in late 2011, early 2012. They’ve just been testing the hell out of it on a few local cars, and now on the S5 they bought to punish.
Going to be a good time because the S5 engine is nearly as strong as the RS4 engine it is closely related to. Seeing as how the S5 is making about 475 whp with the supercharger kit from TTS, i don’t see why the JHM kit won’t have them pushing deep into the low 11s @ 120+ MPH. Will be interesting.

I didn’t realise the S5 was fairly similar to the RS4 engine-wise. I’d assumed Audi had skimped on some internals and made it more like the Q7 4.2 FSI.
That will be a great value proposition in a couple of years (when the first ones move out of CPO territory) - manual S5 + JHM s/c.
Ya I agree - Wouldn’t even stand a chance against Prime. Not sure what I was thinking - maybe that JHM had a supercharger release pending for the S5.
But how about this - bolt-on V8 S5 v S4, on pump tunes and pump gas. What do you think about that? I think it’s hard to say…
Good point. What exactly are the differences/similarities between the V8 S5 and the RS4? Also, does the V8 S5 share anything in common with the 4.2 in the RS5?
P.S. have to qualify V8 S5 because current S5s and going forward have the 3.0T supercharged engine.
different rods & pistons, different cams and valvetrain componets, different intake and exhaust manifold, no factory external oil cooler
not the beast of a motor the high-rev fsi 4.2 is, but it still has forged rods & pistons so likely a stronger option than the bhf (I suspect forged pistons may have been a factory decision to combat the cylinder wall scoring issues)

Auto S5 4.2’s are 6 speed Tiptronic, not DSG…but I get what you’re saying
