I am looking for the best motor mounts.

Who makes the best longest lasting motor mounts?
Not looking for Race or track but longer life with not a lot of give/movement.

Should I go with snub mounts or regular motor mounts?

Thanks in advance.

We spent a lot of time testing out and rebuilding our 3.0 L downpipes so they’ll fit perfectly. As soon as they are ready for sale I will let you know! What is a good phone number I can contact you at?

As for the other products you’re interested in, we’re getting ready to release them in a few weeks with the downpipes, BUT I can sell you something right now! I can get you a 034 Transmission Mount, 034/JHM 3 Liter Motor Mounts, an Apikol Rear Diff. Mount AND our brand new JHM 3L V6 Clutch and LWFW combo! Let me know if you’re interested in any of those items.

Finally, have you considered a tuning upgrade for your 3L? We have an EXCELLENT tune for these cars that we’ve spent a lot of time developing, testing, and gathering real world data on. We went to the track a few weeks ago and made some AMAZING gains on this car using our tuning to take advantage of all of our hardware upgrades.

Let me know what you’d like to do!

Stern make the best motor and trans mounts (but they can be a bit pricey). If you still have the OEM snub mount I recommend upgrading that to either APR or apikol.

In saying this JHM have been testing different motor mounts so email them and see what they say on the subject.

stern and apikol for mounts, never done me wrong

how important is it to run all same brand of mounts on the whole car???

^not at all, just depends who makes what part.

My opinion (which means less than the paper it’s printed on right here) from front to back:
034 zero gap snub bracket
Apikol Snub Mount
Stern Street Density Motor Mounts
Stern Trans Mount
JHM SS trio pkg (I say this just b/c the upgraded shifter linkage etc)
Apikol Rear Diff Mount

The snub, trans, rear diff are all fairly inexpensive & rear diff mount is a breeze to install. The trio is a bit more and takes more to install, and same goes for the motor mounts. But they’re both worth the time.

Stern trans mounts are shit and the new ones are actually a copied design from Apikol. Please do not buy their shit. I bought the 034 track density trans mount after realizing the Stern trans mount was shit and didn’t control my trans movement enough. I’d get either that or the Apikol trans mount.

Motor mount wise for our cars, get the ones JHM has produced. They are specific to our cars(yes our mounts are unique compared to a b6 1.8t). I think Keaton told me they are close to a track density.

Don’t buy into the Stern hype. Their products “look” good and that’s about it. WOO HEY WE MAKE SERVICABLE MOTOR MOUNTS. That doesn’t fucking matter when you have solid rubber mounts. Seeing their failures in the trans mounts designs and adjustable control arm designs makes me know that they don’t actually know what they’re doing. Stick with a company like 034, JHM, or Apikol who actually does this shit professionally.

I didn’t realize that about the stern trans mount, I’d actually never seen the apikol one, at least not to my memory. It does look much nicer, but you’re also the first person to complain that I’ve seen about the stern trans mount (not discrediting you, just haven’t heard other people, but most probably don’t actually care either).

And yes, I was implying to order all those mounts from JHM as they stock them all.

I also went with the 034 adj UCA’s and they’ve been good. If you do UCA’s at any point, also do the inner and outer tie rods with updated and refreshed parts, it made a big difference for me, and almost no more additional work if you’re doing UCA’s.

That is the first and only time I have ever heard of someone discredit stern. Some of the fastest Audi’s are running stern mounts.

I have this…
Stern Street motor
Stern Street trans
Apikol snub

It’s pretty locked down

^joe, you need to throw the read diff mount on, it makes hook up on 1-2 really solid and helps with wheel hop some too.

Interesting about Stern…

Oh well I guess I will have to find out the hard way as I have a set sitting on my floor.

That reminds me I need to get a diff mount, also is the zero gap snub bracket worth it

When my engine goes in I want everything to be refreshed all CA’s and suspension has been done, but what do we think about these

Sound like some good places to start all.

Thanks again.

I have a while before I do them so any more suggestions are apreciated.

I remember asking about Stern vs the then new 034 motor mounts on AZ. I can’t find the thread at the moment but IIRC JHM said they only used Stern because there were the only option but were pleased with the 034 mounts on the B5’s and anticipated the B6/7 version would be equally good.

Yeah I know I need it bad. I get a horrible buck shifting from 1-2. And then there’s the wheel hop. I’m ordering intake spacers next week so i’ll get it then

Like mentioned, I think the stern trans is still a good part and is a significant engineering advance over stock or even the 034 (but 034 is on my car due to headers). If I had know the apikol came out first and looked like it did, I probably would be pushing it, but I just don’t think they have ever made a post about it in the B6/7 S4 section (that I have seen).

The zero gap isn’t going to change much if you already have the snub mount, but if you’re having to put the car into service position for anything, I’d say it’s a good $50 part. I installed it, and it’s tough to say I saw much of a difference, but other than strut mounts, I have every mount, so how much of a difference should I see. I think it’s a good part and worth the money imo.

I think the top strut mount is another good part to replace over oem if you’re on an older setup. If my suspension comes out, I’ll def update them since I’m close to 100k now (not worth it unless it’s a problem now or it’s coming out anyways). I was really surprised the difference in solid UCA’s and all new inner & outer tie rods, definitely don’t skip on those if you’re doing the suspension stuff.

For motor mounts, stern are a big improvement over stock and again, 034 is a bit of upgraded parts to a stock piece, not so much re-engineered part.
