I Have Arrived - Have I Gotten Scammed

I’ve loved my car for several years now. It’s a 2005 with right around 50,000 miles on it. I have owned several cars, a few of them Audi’s and have never done a lot of modifications on them. However, I was out of town last week and came across a car identical to mine and after a little back and forth I realized that his car was quite a bit faster. The car had a much better sound and acceleration. This caused me to want to do some modifications to my car. So in pursuant of this, I did very little research admittedly and bought myself a full Miltek exhaust system as recommended by my local shop. After doing some reading, now I am not sure if this was the best move on my part. I keep looking for an FI exhaust but I don’t know what that is. I keep searching for it but nothing comes up.

If you have the 2.5" Milltek you’ll be ok. The 2.25" inch sounds good but is shite for performance. FI = Fast Intentions. I’ve seen some of these come up for sale used on Audizine for B6 S4s but not many for B7. Once you get the exhaust sorted get either piggie your downpipes or buy some catless DPs from FI or Trexturk(forum member). Trexs are cheap and do the job. Then get a JHM tune. Those 3 things will give your S4 the kick in the ass it needs.

no ripoff

  1. the milltek downpipes are 2.5" so that is nice. They make an incredible sound too
  2. the milltek catback is likely the 2.25" version, but it’s not killing you. Stock is about 2.125". Optimal is about 2.5". 2.25" is leaving some on the table, especially having no crossover and some bad bends, but it sounds amazing.

So no you didn’t get ripped off. Was there a better couple of options out there for absolute power? Definitely. Doesn’t mean these are not valid options though to make your car more fun, and especially to sound better.

Are the milltek downpipes catless?

Apat is right so is sakimano

Milltek is known for making exhaust first wehen a new car comes out. There not known for making the best. there has been several conversations on this. milltek had for years told people there exhaust was the best for power. Till after like 50 JHM proven cars showed taht to be wrong.

After years of failure and finially not being able to sell any exhausst systems miltek finially decided that they couldn’t convince the pubiic anymore that there too smalll exhaust systems worked. They then made a 2.5" but I don’t know if many or any delers really sell that either due to millteks name getting kinda shit on.

Also the milltek Dps and cats suck. SO make sure you go Cat less down pipes if you can

You see alot of posts like this. Very common to see members get jaded when they do deeper research. working for borla for so long you get to know the better of the companys. Milltek has a better name then they do performance.

for the money if you got the 2.25 version. IMHO you might as well just send it back and keep your stock exhaust. As its about the same. No cross over the pipe DIA. Of the milltek is measured as 2.25 but thats the out side DIA the inside DIA is more like 2.2. If your just looking for a different sound. Then you can get just about any exhaust.

Milltek doesn’t even list the 2.5" on their site. I know they showed up on AZ early this year http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php/472150-Group-buy-feeler-Milltek-2-5-quot-catback-for-B6-B7 The xpipe doesn’t look “proper” but its 2.5". If you got your exhaust before 2012 you have the 2.25".

Thanks for the feedback guys. I’m not sure what size the exhaust is. Ill call the shop on Monday and see if I can’t get some more detailed information

Is it on the car it is it just ordered?

Where do you live? Are you going catless or catted?

If you are going catless the downpipes are a great option. They neck down to 2.25" to Nate up with their catback though. Their catted downpipes have the cat in a sub optimal location…not sure if you can cancel that but they’re really expensive and I would want to ensure you get that part right because the cats play havoc with these engines, heat , engine safety and performance wise.

If you haven’t received it yet, ask the dealer to check into the 2.5 " option for the catback.

As I said don’t freak out and lament the purchase

It’s now on the car. It is catted. I live in the tri-state area of MI. It’s the 2.25". In my opinion, it doesn’t really feel that much faster. The sound seems to have changed but the performance feels just like before. Was I expecting to much? I know this is forthcoming but it’s an automatic and I really want more than this. What do you guys suggest that I do from here? Thanks so much for all of the feedback:)

Even my 2.5" + piggies didn’t feel much faster. Maybe a small bump in low end torque. What really brings the system alive is the JHM tune. Exhaust and tune, can’t really have one without the other.

Without a tune the car can’t take advantage of too much in the exhaust line. The parameters are restrictive enough, as they should be, because they are not expecting a free flowing exhaust. The cat right up by the engine isn’t ideal either.

When tuned you will say holy shit. Until then I am not sure. I have logged full Milltek cars before on stock tune or GIAC tune and frankly they weren’t much quicker than stock. Those cars were transformed performance wise once tuned.

MI? where about. did the car you raced have a custom plate? Is your car dolphin grey?

As for the exhaust. I would say the 2.2 isn’t going to be super over stock. The catted version isn’t going to unlock much on a stock car. I have to agree with the other guys. Even if you put headers on the car and a 2.5 with a X pipe on the car it isn’t going to do much without the JHM tune.
