hNycvr6’s car put down under 500whp. Can anyone confirm this. If it’s true, I hope that his Ed’s fabricated manifold isn’t the culprit. Justin, Can you please correct me if I was misinformed. Thanksu
maybe under 800awhp… He has the best parts money can buy Motec standalone 5k+ M&W ignition is top dollar. 6766 turbo is sick as hell. built vr6 there is no reason he should not put down 900awhp. A local vr6 golf put that down same turbo 24valve race gas cast manifold and stock ecu and ignition no reason he cannot top that!
We have done no boost tuning yet. Only calibration of the new electronics. As for numbers during this, most rolling pulls we didn’t even look at the dyno because we weren’t tuning for power. We only took the car to a max of 5500 rpm so far. There’s a video on YouTube of us taking it to 5000 I think. Ed mentioned that it made 4XX at 5000 rpm on wastegate spring, the pulls were shut down in between 4500-5000, but like I said, there has been zero time put into boost tuning, only getting all the new stuff to work properly, which was a total success. We will be tuning for power in the next few weeks and I will post results and videos as always. If people want to know about something with my build, there’s no need to start a thread, you can just ask me always. That said, I’m not shooting for anywhere near 1000whp on this motor, I just have lifted too many vr heads in my life on various builds, to bother trying to push another one that hard. I am optimimly shooting for 750 at least, more importantly on a great reliable tune. So far all the new shit is working well, I’ve been very busy with shit to update. I am running new fuel lines and filters next week and getting ready for tuning. I got pushed behind schedule planning my NYC wedding party, but I’ll be at the strip in September. I appreciate the interest and post updates soon. Ed’s manifold is working great spooling this turbo though, so I’m very happy.
lol almost 500 whp before 5000 RPM without even trying just sounds insane
hope this thing is running smoothely for you soon…you’ve been on the bench for too long. Must be driving you nuts.
Thanks man, appreciate that. Yea he said the curve looked like it was ready to shoot for the stars. By the Wat, I just read the post above mine up there, I actually ended up selling my 67 and putting a7285 on the car with a beast of a hot side. I’m VERY happy with how this turbo came on with no tuning or anything into it. I can only assume it was only making sub 15psi at that rpm with no timing adjustments. I was honestly a little nervous about spooling this thing. But Ed’s beautiful twin scroll has it coming on perfectly. Updates ASAP fellas!
85mm turbine wheel? DAMMMMN about time some one stepped up to a nice size turbo but i dont understand why such a huge turbine wheel what a/r hotside?
1.28 precision t4 divided. VR’s like big turbine wheels and housings, less backpressure. I actually have a backpressure sensor this time to keep track. It’s just a really nice turbo.
Awesome to hear this is going well!
I’m excited to see it after it’s done.
Thank you very much! Updates to come.
I think we are all very excited to see this. Please feel free to use our video hosting feature as we would love to have stuff like that on the site
Thanks again for the updates
Absolutely. As soon as I have videos of the power tuning and testing I will get them uploaded on the site. Thank you!
Wow thats gonna be a sick ride when all is said and done! Cant wait to see this thing at MIR now im gonna have to come out there to see it
I’ll definitely be heading down to MIR. Id like to do my final shakedowns at MIR, once we make sure everything is working as planned on the track. Greatest strip to work on the short track. Thanks a lot!
Hey let me know when you are going to MIR because I want to see it run.
^^^Sorry to threadjack but Jimmy where are you located? How close to MIR?? You can pm me if youd like
