Slayed the carbon dragon on it 2 days ago as well as swapped in new NGKs, feels new all over again (considering I drove this car when it was new). Other than a mild tune I will leave it as is with the mods it has for a while, it has Alcon front rotors, Ohlins MS suspension, stasis center and rear diffs, harness bar, quick fits and an opened up stock exhaust. Hoping to get my GF out on the track with it as she doesn’t like her WRX for drag or road course use, only dirt.

I have been driving them for years, taking care of this one since new, feels really good to have it and flog on it as our own. The B5 S4 will get driven even less now, oh well, that will keep it working.

I saw your joke about swapping a 2.7T into it. That would be pretty cool. An expensive, time consuming, frustrating way to be worse/slower. Looking forward to it!

I have always wanted to do that project, but could only justify it if I were to buy a damaged one. This one is just too nice and a bit rare of a color combo to do that with. I am sure this one will eventually see boost though.

that’s not a swap rooted in reason though. It’s rooted in your love for the 2.7T.

At this point, there are 3 off the shelf supercharger kits that would rape any 2.7T on pump gas. Put race gas in the 4.2 cars? Mid-high 10s comfortably. To achieve this, you install an off the shelf intercooled supercharger kit, and gut your precats.

To do so in a 2.7T? Even though it weighs 300 lbs less to start…you need big turbos, an engine build (good luck finding someone to do it in under a year at this point). And it breaks 30 minutes later.

Put a 2.7T in the larger, heavier 8E chassis and guess what…you’ll struggle to get out of the 11s even at 40 PSI on race + meth and retard parameters.

No, Snow…the 2.7T only makes sense as a passion project. The 4.2 and (and 4.0T) has FLOWN past it. If someone’s looking for a $1000 engine to put in a 4.2 RS4, sure have at it. but if you’re trying to do budget builds, maybe do so in a cheaper chassis. If someone has the money to take a n RS4 and spend 2 years jamming a 2.7T into it, they have the money to put the superior 4.2 FSI high revving BNS engine in it.

Saki I agree with pretty much everything you said in regards to modding these cars for big power. That’s why I said I would do it if I bought a blown up one. I just missed out on that 7500 dollar one from QW a while back. My cost on an Aviva or APR S/C kit makes it a no brainer.
