IM hacks anyone?

Spring is hear and I just spent the day cleaning out the car, and getting ready to change to summer tires. The car drives great these days, but I’m reminded of a few nagging issues I need to resolve.

The main one is that I’m still driving with the IM flaps removed. Plus, JHM still doesn’t have a date yet for their IM upgrade. Unfortunately, my flaps were in no position to be glued to either the long/short runner position, which is the recommended procedure.

But I’m wondering if it is possible to make/3-D print some sort of plate that will permanently cover the ports to the long runners (low-rpm driving)? Any experts out there with ideas on what material to use, etc? Something that would handle the temp/pressure changes in there.

That would make it easier to wait for the JHM upgrade…

I think it would be exciting to see what JHM comes up with. They worked wonders with the S4 intake.

The big challanges with the V10 intake is that its like the 3.0 Na 6 cylinder. The hardware is so complex that it cant be eaisly fixed and a flat pannel wont work due to the mount tabs being resessed.

From what I can see the ideal fix would be to keep the stock flaps and hardware but to just epoxy the runners shut and flaps shut. Just unhook the actuator. You wont get a code for the actuator being

unfortunately, the hardware that held the flaps in place was all messed up. Can you just epoxy the flaps without using the hardware? Do you need a special epoxy to handle the temps?

Its almost hard to say. The OEM unit is a plastic that is press fit into the intake. They dont seem to use any epoxy to hold it in and what happens is the plastic loosens up over time and pops out. With all the oil that gets pulled through the intake I dont even know if that would play a role.

I would have to think there is an epoxy that can hold the unit back in place. The only issue would be what one and can you get a good bond to the intake with it.

The design is a little Bs honestly out of the items that go that one never made sense

After getting updated IM (original was a little warped and flapper stuck open) with allegedly updates flapper I had no provens but I won’t drove for maybe anther 10-15k after the entire replacement
