In other b8 news...

Unitronic… We’ve been hearing about their b8 tune since early 2010… Newbs. Oh but it will be a home flash…

Now ams/alpha is an official sponsor… Good for them, wonder how long before they dump epl for tuning… Wonder if they’ll do anything unique? Coolant setup seems to be coming…

Oh and our boy Saxon is getting his custom meth tune… Any 1/4 predictions? Maybe a e85 tune also…

Nice. Really glad to see AMS getting into the game (other than rebranding an EPL tune). I bet they start posting here again.

Is saxon even planning on hitting the track with his meth setup? Looks like he was just talking about a dyno chart. FAIL lol.

Unitronic- Is about 5 years too late. They’re not a big enough name and already looks like several people aren’t interested or impressed. Too many other real companies involved.

AMS - Sad sorry there if you ask me. AMS is showing their more of a brand name than a force to be reckoned with. What was great about AMS was AMS. Not outsourced tuning. The lack of market research and brand name associated feeling for their tuning outsource shows little research on the part of AMS. I’d still expect great products but there now is a sense of doubt on their commitment.

Saxon and his actions along with his results just show more of how AMS is in bed with the wrong people

Hyden, totally agree with every point…

Cloch, he’ll go… Posting the results may be the issue depending of course how the car does…

Let me ask another question. Is epl tuning for epl, amd and ams? That’d definitely be a bad move for the B8 community.

Custom meth or e85?who cares. We have already seen race gas tunes.

If you have to dump alcohol in I don’t see the difference or the point between this and race .

I’ve only had my B8 for a little under 2 years, and during that time, I’ve seen a ton of “promises” but not a lot delivered. Especially hardware from the smaller outfits. The competition is great for us consumers, but I won’t hold my breath.

He is still searching for the reason to justify “custom” tuning. I also hate when people automatically assume E85 ALWAYS equals more power. Let’s see how the fueling system handles it and all of the issues that plague guys that run E85 100% of the time. I’d be willing to bet he doesn’t break out of the 12s on E85 with EPL “attempting” to tune the car. I actually wouldn’t be surprised if he needs a new engine soon after that endeavor.

well if you fire loads of alcohol at the engine you can run pretty aggressive parameters. And since it’s readily available, that helps people justify it.

People also talk about it being cheaper than normal gas or race gas, but is that really true based on consumption? It’s my understanding that you’re using a fuckton of E85 to make the same magic happen.

Wow Saki, don’t you know the first rule of E85 is that you never talk bad about E85?!?!?

Yea premium is around ~$3.90/gal here, and E85 is around $3.00, but you’re using ~30% more fuel to get the same power from E85 as I understand and even more fuel to get increased power compared to gas.

Here’s a pretty good Edmunds article: http://www.edmunds.com/fuel-economy/e85-vs-gasoline-comparison-test.html They took a road trip and calculated fuel economy / price / performance for a flex fuel Tahoe. The E85 did worse in pretty much everything and due to the extra fuel used had almost identical carbon footprint.

^^^great article there.

simos 8.4 and 8.5 flash can’t wait

Can’t APR already do this?

Again, the thing about the unitronic thread that makes me laugh the most is how everyone doesn’t realize these guys have been promising a tune since 2010! So now they mention their tune at home solution and everyone is gaga even though they’ve had what 4+ years to put out a tune in general and nadda, oh and no release date… Funny they mention test S4’s yet no one has heard about these cars which I guess could be realistic, but you would think someone testing a tune would be more likely to post on the forums… They mention all kind of data collecting also and no one asks about that, nah they just want a tune at home solution for under 700 bucks… Who cares how it works right? Oh but they have dyno sheets, so it’s gotta be right… I guess the testers don’t have time to hit the dragstrip? We all know who their S6 tester err dealer is… He was supposed to have an S4 tune which was his previous car but we never heard anything about it… He posts all his S6 result so I think it’s obvious it didn’t exist and still doesn’t…

Oh and no need to cover the female pictures or westwest’s and federer’s total stupidity…

The fact that this isn’t even coming directly from unitronic makes you wonder how true any of this really is. Here is some bad English for you, in my thoughts. Having the ability to flash at home is great, but having a great tune is greater. If you guys keep demanding results, it makes it very difficult for the fake cheerleaders to cheer about nothing.
