Installed snub mount, lost transmission cover, tips?

Well, I am very unpleased with myself right now. I got my new snub mount and zero gap bracket and while I should’ve waited until Saturday to take my time and install it, I did it today and did a terrible job.

Should’ve known to just wait when I couldn’t even get the snub mount out of the bracket it shipped in to begin with, it was freakin’ stuck in there.

took me forever to remove the bumber and figure out how to get the old one off. Finally did after taking off the 3 huge bolts on each side of the radiator and forcing the radiator forward as much as humanly possible. Getting the bumper back on was a complete nightmare, I could not get anything to line up, and it’s still off now that I’m done. My right headlight sticks out a few millimeters, and one of the screws next to the headlight on top isn’t aligned and my hood is really hard to shut now.

Any tips to get it aligned? I have a feeling it’s the 3 large bolts on either side of the radiator I removed for access.

So, I decided to take it out for a drive to see how the snub mount felt, and on my turning point back home about 15 minutes away I pushed it pretty hard and I heard a loud pop. Pulled over and everything seemed ok and engine sounded fine. When I got home I realized my under transmission cover got either torn or blown off and now it’s missing :frowning: I never put my under engine cover back bc I figured it was just a quick test drive.

All in all Im very dissppointed in myself for a job done bad, I just hope my transmission cover is still there when I go look tomorrow, and hopefully this Saturday I can figure out a way to line up my damn bumper.

yeah the trans belly plate is held up in front by the motor belly pan

I know, stupid mistake. 135 bucks for a new one from europa parts. Anybody think it’s worth it to go ahead and order the new one or will I live without it? Im a proponent of the argument that it helps with air flow characteristics at highway speeds and stability, but I feel like that’s more due to the front belly pan.

Not looking forward to re-doing my bumper alignment tomorrow :frowning:

I’d go with the stainless steel version sold by a couple companies. Well if you’re are (or will be lowered) or if you question the quality of the roads etc.

I think someone on EA was getting a group buy #2 going on, and had posted in on AZ and some other places. Should look into that possibly.

I wouldnt bother with the trans one, I pulled mine all off (well the snow did). Helps you see if your car is leaking anything lol

I used some stainless bolts to hold the front part of the transmission pan on, then since the two front outer bolts also hold on the belly pan, i have another set of nuts that goes over the transmission belly pan. Wow that didn’t make sense.

basically I can remove my belly pan and drive around without having to worry about the one over the trans. I like having the covers there though. Easier to tell if something is leaking on the car. For example I did an oil change 2 days ago and noticed my pan was a little damp. Looked up and realized my PS line was leaking…which is what was causing this weird groaning noise while turning
