I had a similar issue and it turned out to be a cracked line in the front of the motor. The lines Audi uses are braided rubber so the rubber hose underneath cracks and you can’t find it because the fabric braid covers it up. I ended up replacing all of the vacuum lines with silicone hose from napa
Btw, Happy Birthday
PS: Hope you find the fault after you recover tomorrow!

Based on the videos you sent us of your idle hunt, I don’t think that it’s related to the symptoms that zingo is describing. He has a major vacuum leak that needs to be tracked down. Your cat codes are most likely because of the fact that you’re running catless on an early version of our tune and we weren’t able to track every code down until we got more miles on a catless setup. We’ve since updated the tune and whenever you can come by, let us know and we’ll get you sorted out.

I’m sorry to hear about the trouble. It sounds like the Count has you handled but please let us know if you need anything else!
has zingo checked the vac lines yet? Three people have told him to do that but I haven’t seen anything that would indicate he has
This is like watching a horror movie where people are screaming at the screen, but the actor can’t hear them and he walks right into a machete wielding maniac hiding behind the door.
Fuck these vacuum lines. Seriously. I get them almost all sorted and replaced then another one from out of nowhere comes and fucking snaps and I have NO idea where it goes.
Lol I am in this mess right now.
poor zingo
where are you located? Maybe someone we know can help
you said fixxfest…thats’ in the southeast right?
Can you rent a smoke test machine (not meaning Zingo per say, just in general?) It’s extremely easy to perform from what I’ve seen, but would be nice to see any obvious van leaks you’re not noticing.
If you’ve already pulled and reattached all the wiring, then it’s tough to say. Sounds kinda like one of those 'doh moments is around the corner from something not being connected or a wire being pulled apart.
As complicated as everything is, like beem said, the more you figure it out and learn where everything goes & why, it becomes a pretty simple system. Pulling my motor made everything seem to fall into perfect place and no more, “hmm, I wonder where that wire goes or what it does” type of thinking.
Best of luck to ya Zingo!
Man it sounds like I was really lucky to have only snapped that one big vent tube and the stem coming off the main coolant pipe. Then again, my car only has around 70k miles. Maybe we should work on a kit to replace all these buggers with silicone lines? JHM what do you think? I would definitely buy something like that for preventative maintenance.
did you find one that is damaged? If so post a picture of the area around it.
So thru all the hell I am finished and she is running great. Even had time to give her a nice detail before it gets too dark. Last night I got some starting fluid and hit the hoses with it to check for leaks, as Count said, I had quite a few in the old, brittle, gay hoses… Lol I ended up buying about 5 feet of hose to replace almost all of the lines. I left maybe one or two pieces untouched as they seamed to be fine. I ran into a few problems with matching the hoses up with the right connections as I didn’t do the smart thing of replacing as I went but all is squared away and leak free… For now…
I wanted to scream like a girl when I turned it over and it idled and drove normal, but my ego got the best of me. Thanks for all you guys help and if anyone runs into this problem, as I’m sure they will feel free to hit me up and I can troubleshoot with you.
She is all purty and ready to make the trip down to Tampa, thanks guys!
such a happy ending. I was about to start asking if you dropped some rocks in your intake valves.
I was about to drop a boulder on the entire car. Lol
Know that feeling
see I tend towards the dousing it in gasoline and letting it burn thoughts
I would do it ngng style and key the entire car-from the roof to the doorblades to get insurance to total it.
The frustration makes you learn but is always a painful learning experience. Glad shes up and running man.
Now that it runs, how are the intake temps? how you liking them?
When everything was out back together and running it was great. I now have an evap leak and I was running almost 17s lol
Fixxfest was pretty tight though, looking forward to next year with some more power
Dang, it never ends with the audis eh
I wanna see someone run 14s with just the tune(s)
You are telling me lol
Well all the lines are replaced with new fittings so maybe that’s what was holding it back before…? Lol the biggest problems hold up for my car is the 60 ft. Back at the track a few weeks ago and previously my best was 2.4, at Fixxfest it was 2.7, 2.8, and 2.9. That’s when I found the leak and I shut her down for the day. If we can get that 60 ft down we should be good
