my experience running gutted mani after carbon clean was that it stuttery @ cold starts and in Drive w/ your foot on a brake at a stop light - I’d have to shift to Neutral to keep it from starting to misfire once light turned green and I’d set off

definitely different engine / intake sound, definitely ‘some’ tq loss low, definitely ‘some’ hp gain up high

I bent the hell over and bought a new mani - see new post I’m making now for impressions… still have issues (likely the flap interference w/ the brackets)

good luck w/ yours down there - I’ll say that cacking the crink over for the new mani DID transform the car… it’s worth it

just like with the S6 the B6 is the same.

Get what data you can from the shop and post it here. Your in super good hands with the B6 dare I say this but the B6 S4 is also a great car. I still cant bring myself to sell mine. I love it and there is unlimited potential for those cars JHM makes VERY THING for them.

I can work on mine with my eyes closed and JIMMY Bones is a regular on here he helps lots and lots of B6 S4 guys he has one two.

Whatever data you get make sure to post it here or ask here. We will all help you. And I do know someone that has a full exhaust and downpipes that would sell them. There FI units so the best exhaust there is. PM me if your interested. You should start a thread in the B6 sction.

Yeah I’ve been to Jimmy for work on my S6, so I’m super thankful for his existence (not to mention his good character). On the exhaust I think I found a guy today in PA that has his S4 up for part out. Just waiting for the final say from the shop on what’s what. Downpipes, I guess I’ll wait to find out what’s up with the car before I get them.

Interestly I have not experienced any rough running / misfires or codes at all running the car this way. Basically if you want to get the car to bogie you smack it in S and get it above 4500rpm - away she smokes.

I have contacted JHM about a ECU tune, as you mentioned its the best out there, maybe that tune would help bridge the gap = while we await the Inlet Manifold to be rereleased.

Has anyone actually tried tuning the S6 with a gutted inlet manifold, not just running the car, but tuning to suit the open manifold…

Other than the possible missfires and the obvious loss of tq for having the shorter runners you dont need to tune for the shorter runners. the car will run and operate properly.

you can run say the JHM tune as its proven it self to be miles better than all the other tunes and delivers real world results both in dyno and actual tested acceleration. That will get you a good chunk of tq out of the car. But since the major loss in power is hardware related the only way your going to be able to gain all of that back is fixing the hardware. Not sure if that answers your question or not

That is indeed a great way to help bridge the gap. The JHM tune is amazing. Its without a doubt the best tune there is. There have been people that have been tuned by other companys that switched to the JHM Tune and still said they felt a night and day difference. And its not just a placebo given that the JHM tune is the only tune to actually show improvement in the 0-60 and 1/4 mile testing.

JHM responded about the JHM tune whilst running an empty manifold - im paraphrasing but the total outcome is similar to what I have now, the hardware that is missing cannot be replaced with tune.

Sounds like there are alot of people who have pre ordered new mannys through JHM, ill hopefully do the same in the next few weeks
