Interesting Comparison of APR+full MILLTEK catless vs JHM+full JHM catless

Guy on audizoo just posted his dyno and 1/4 mile results.

APR 93 tune
93 octane
Milltek catless downpipes
Milltek catback exhaust
328 WHP on a dynojet
13.1@105 best 1/4 mile result

These are stock, or worse than stock times, and basically healthy stock dyno numbers. This is I believe the 4th APR tuned RS4 we have seen that produces basically ZERO gains over stock, both on the dyno and in acceleration testing.

Compare to Mistro…

JHM 93 tune
94 octane
JHM catless downpipes
JHM catback exhaust
365 WHP on a dynojet
12.2@113 best 1/4 mile result

Mistro also had lw wheels, crank pulley and rotors but man…and this guy had da 1300 while mistro had 500 but these are not huge differences.

The difference in results however is gigantic. People seriously buy APR and Milltek stuff still? I hope they came on his car when he bought it.

Cool to see someone testing the car though. Pretty rare in the RS4 world. Most of the guys want to pretend they’re holding a collectors car and just polish them, or they pretend they’re track superstars and they crash them.

Lol at the FT and Daytona responses. " more than we’d expect with no CC" “not bad for your first try”

How many thousands in mods is that (APR guy)? I’d feel like shit if I spent all that money only to see zero acceleration gains.

Good to see him hit the track, though.

My car with stock tune, with only JHM LWfW stage 4 with fresh carbon clean/intake manifold spacers and air filter dyno’d 345whp with mix 100 oct. so about 96 octane. Dyno dynamics
Then dyno’d 330 on 93 with just a catback, stock tune, LWfW. Not sure the type of dyno

I did 12.8 111mph with 1.9 60ft with jhm tune, piggies, intake manifold spacers with a bad clutch that gets stuck all the time lol. Now that I have a 5r, I think I can hit 12.5-6 easy… I do need new tires though.

That’s solid mph . On the 12.8 I mean. 111mph is good for 12.4 maybe high 12.3 if you can get a 1.8. 60’ and 3 good gear changes

I ran 12.53 with a slipping clutch. I would be pissed to see 13s after spending that kind of cake. ???

I think the Apr / milltek guy bought his car like that

I was gonna post this over here to get some opinions so I am glad to see it is already here!

The mods were already on the car and I was actually quite bummed when I found out he had the APR tune installed. The exhaust is what it is, I am gonna add some cats and possibly resonators… Not a fan of the smell and boomy low speed sound. Up high I love it but I can only be there so much of the drive. ;D

I was disappointed with the mph on the 1/4 run but the time was ok. I am confident I could have gotten to a 13.0 or even 12.99 with more than the two runs I got in. What were average trap speeds for a stock RS?

Welcome

As for the exhaust. Sell the dps and get jhm 2.75 dps with cats. That will help also ditch the stock like apr tune. Get the jhm at the same time you get the dps.

Your car with no cats and a semi aftermarket exhaust and the apr tune put up stock numbers. Actually just a little slower. Mph wise and dyno wise. Throw the dyno number out as every dyno will be different but the mph never lies. Even if you could have drive better your ET would have been the only thing to change.

I wouldn’t be too bummed about the apr tune it’s like a stock tune anyways. You can get the jhm catted dps in 2.75 and the jhm tune and you should be in good shape.

For bone stock RS4s, in good da of around 0 or a few hundred feet, the top 3 went
12.75@108
12.8@107
12.8@107

In not great da, or in good da with not great driving 13.0-13.1@106 is normal

I went 13.1@106 first time in ok conditions and ok driving. I later went 12.75@108.36 in good conditions with good driving. All stock. Oh… And I had never done a carbon clean. That was at 35, 000 miles. Everyone will tell you carbon will change the world. It won’t, unless you also have a vacuum leak that gets fixed.

The Apr tune does next to nothing but the catless exhaust should give you a good bump.

As noted earlier in the thread milltek is basically a replica of stock. Sounds nice but does very little to help. So a catted milltek would be a waste of money.

Sell your milltek on the forums. Buy a jhm catted fullback. That’s what I have now and it’s great. Not retarded loud, not much drone at all (what there is is at 1700-1900 rpms only when on throttle… Which you never really are at that rpm).

With my jhm full exhaust with cats and no other mods I went 12.51 @ 110.5. That’s shows the boost a well designed exhaust will give you even on stock tune like me.

That’s because daytona is a fucking terrible driver as are all of those guys. They all run mid to high 13s in their rs4s with a similar setup to the op so 13.1 is like lightning to them lol

Those morons also forget I went 12.75@108 stock without a carbon clean (at 35k miles) .

They also forget mistro went 13.0@106 at 50 k miles stock without a carbon clean , then got his car carbon cleaned, then went 13.0@106. All within 2 weeks.
