Interesting pulley for sale...

Wonder if this dude is just attempting to buy and sell a $50-100 pulley and new belt for $400+… Story keeps getting more interesting… No tune with it so it’s really worthless w/o help…

If you had a stage 1 tune and put a pulley on what would happen?

Are the stage 1 tunes asking for whatever boost the car can make or are they putting a limit on and allowing boost bypass beyond it?

Obviously there would be heat introduced with more boost due to smaller pulley but I’d think that can be managed with existing stage 1 parameters and protection.

Just wondering. There seem to be a few people selling pulleys alone online. If you’re on stock tune it’s useless. If you’re not though, is it worthwhile? Dangerous in any way?

saki, On the APR tune and I believe GIAC you wouldn’t see more boost on the top end as they set the request fairly close to actual, there may be a little room… On Revo(logs I’ve seen) the set the request way high so you would see the extra boost but you’d still have stage I parameters for bypass, timing, etc. That was my point with the post this dude is selling a pulley and it probably won’t do anything and he is way over charging… I quieried his screen name and he has sold stuff on the MB forums and seems fairly credible but I bet he saw an opportunity here and tried to make a quick buck like infinkc said…

He’s already down to $350… eroding those margins… lol

I didn’t do any logs when i slapped my pulley on with “stage 1”, but my butt dyno felt an improvement in throttle response and low end. It would seem reasonable that it will in fact change the cars power even without a tune as the charger will be building boost quicker than stock, hence the added low end. You just won’t benefit with the extra psi as its being bled off by the bypass.

Those posts are a great lesson in why to just buy new. It only took a full page of posts to undercover it wasn’t a pulley from anyone known in the current S4 market.
