Also wondering what type if any of damage may have been done due to Sandy.
unless the tower blew over, I’m sure they’re fine.
That storm was not as bad as it seemed from a drama point of view (i.e. wind blowing shit over) but the nightmare of volumes of water flooding entire towns is sickening to see. Water just wrecks everything.
Here’s some neat math
1" = 2.54 cm
3.93" x 3.93" x 3.93" = 1000 cubic centimetres
1000 cubic centimetres = exactly 1 litre of water (1 cm3 = 1 ml water)
1 litre of water = exactly 1 KG (1 cm3 = 1 ml water = 1 gram)
1KG = 2.2 lbs
So when you think about it, a cubic metre (3.3feetx3.3 feet x3.3 feet) = 1000 litres of water = 1000 kg = 2200 lbs.
Just a cubic metre of water weighs as much as a small car. When you have 6 feet of a storm surge pushing up against your house…it’s billions of pounds of material behind it, and it has some momentum. It’s incredible what it can do.
I thought 1 inch = 2.54 cm?
sorry, I got ahead of myself. fixed
Salt water has more density than fresh water.
lol
still only what…2% ? So instead of billions of pounds, it’s billions x 1.02 of pounds
When you get to billions it starts to add up.
oh you were being serious? here’s my serious face…
My first dog was a Weimarener. They usually lose the blue eyes early on.
HWUT?! We barely got any rain, yet there are THOUSANDS of trees down and roofs/debris blown all over the place. How is that not a bad thing? THe flooding is obviously by far the worst (and the fires) but I don’t get the comment about the drama about it not being as bad. Do you mean the media set it up to be armageddon and it’s not the end of the world?
The storm was devastating in a nut shell. I don’t pay that much attention to the media so I may not have heard all of the hype you have.
Back on topic: The actual strip could be broken up. Depends on what took place, not sure as I don’t really know anyone who lives near either of the NJ tracks we’ve been discussing. Hopefully they are both fine since they are somewhat inland from where the most damage took place.
^^^yeah, I meant the media set it up to the point it sounded like The Empire State Building was going to blow over and there’d be nothing left standing.
While trees and roofs and debris is bad, it is not even 1,000,000th of the damage that water has caused.

Love Weimeraners. That photo looks to be a viszla though.
Holy fuck - no wonder you guys hit the drag strip on fumes. Even though gas is lighter than water, that’s astonishing. With a full 70 litre tank you’re carrying around 112 pounds.
(1 litre gas = 0.7272727272 KG)
yup. We have 60 litre tanks for the most part. I think it’s officially 63 or something.
Having 50 less litres than 63 works much better!
