Interesting video: RS5 v. Stasis Stage 1 S5 with intake

Seemed like a really good race, similar to the runs that Drive posted up with their RS4 v. Stage 1 S4 Avant.

S5 looks really strong, would love to see my Stage 2 S4 v. an RS5 if anyone in the tri-state is down.

Kind of to be expected. Although what’s wrong with that RS5? In every race, it dies at one point. 0:14 (looks like he lets off and loses almost 2 cars) and 0:52 It’s DSG so we can’t blame the driver. Same at 1:11. Maybe the RS5 let off, but the S5 kept going to the RS5 got back on it? Very weird to see it fall back like that. My car doesn’t fall back like that when I change gears on a manual RS4, nevermind DSG RS5.

p.s. didn’t the RS4 in Europe beat the S4 each time? Here the S5 won the one race and the others were evenalthough he seemed to just jump hard on the sleeping RS5 in the one race. The European race the S4 had catback, intake and REVO/Stasis tune I believe.

Just lookedand the guy has a few 1/4 mlie passes on that setup. 12.6 @ 107-108 are the ones he posted. Looks like california, where I thought the dragstrip was impossible (cough paperboy cough).

Actually just looked, he ran at Sacramento where JHM runs their cars. They ran their 4.2 S5 out there and had a very similar ET but I don’t remember the MPH during development (tune, clutch, catback). Looking forward to seeing them pick up the 4.2 S5 game here soon. That car is way too awesome to not get supported (short of supercharging it there’s really nothing going on)

All the RS5 needs is a tune and exhaust, then nearly all B8 S4s are done for. Cant wait for the 1740 with lightweight parts and seeing those 10s all day long on pump gas

So it’s nice to talk about 10’s but how many legit timeslips will we see?.. bearing in mind that NHRA rules state that roll bars/cages are required at 11.49 and below. Having said that, JHM and AMD managed to get their times in

JHM got close with the RS4 in stage 2 guise and with their stage 2+ (or whatever they call it) when they upgrade fuelling, who knows…we may see it. However it’s not easy that’s for sure. I’m not sure I’d anticipate APR throwing down a 10 pass on an RS5 anytime soon. If they can go 11.3-11.4 @ 125 trhat would be right about where I’d expect to see them.

The DSG+quattro combination however is deadly when you add some performance to the mix. The S6/7 are a great example of that. Tuned they’re hitting 11.6-11.7 without much effort and no other mods, on basic pump gas in sorta shit conditions. That’s retarded.

That setup on an RS5 with a large blower and a great tune will be special to be sure.

For sure. I agree that we will see low elevens with the 1740 from APR but I was referring to once JHM gets their hands on the RS5 plus 20lb wheels/ 24lb tires I think 10s are feasible all day!
