Intro: Newbie to AudiRevolution

Every stock piston failure I see is AFR related, that’s it.

Here is one from my “trophy” collection. Gangster lean…

Holy cow! You would think at temps hot enough to melt the piston like that, that the stock EGT sensors would kick in ATR control and make the car run like crap for a long while before doing that type of damage. That’s crazy.

Welcome bud sounds like you have a pretty great job! lots of resources at least

Certainly can’t complain! I just had the leaking valve cover gaskets/camshaft seals replaced, as well as had 2.8L cams installed. This week I should be receiving my Bosch 5 Bar FPR, as well as my water-methanol injection kit. I’ll be playing around with different E85 mixtures to see how the Green Giants hold up at 5 bar. Since my previous E85 logs, my 95k mile fuel filter was replaced, so I imagine I will have some more flow from that alone.

I likely won’t have any performance times until later, as I want to get the rods installed before I start pushing the envelope. Around November, the DA’s start to become favorable around here so I aim to take a stab at the 1/4 mile list as well.

Hi

How much power diff did you see with the 2.8 cams over the stock ones? Do you have any logs between them?

Regards

I haven’t picked up the car yet :D. I’ll take some logs, the boost should be flatter to redline. When we have done RS4 cams in K04 cars previously, we have seen +20-30whp up top.

This is very interesting , can you share more info about the rs4 cams , before I buy them.
Thanks in advance.

I’ll have a better idea once I gather some logs with my car. I can’t speak for other companies, but with GIAC software and no re-tune, we have seen 30whp gains multiple times. I’m doing a simple drop-in for my car without a re-tune, so we’ll see the results. While I won’t be doing before and after dynos, I am mainly looking at the boost profile with the added air flow.

thats great i have normally heard that 2.8 cams weren’t in the best interest unless you were running a bigger turbo application but this could be a great option for me being im on the k04 platform as well at least running both the intake and exhaust cam(granted i read this on audizine and don’t have any real world evidence myself)…and also why did you decide to go with the green giants over the ev14 injectors seeing as how they are normally the injector people go with nowadays?

The exhaust cams are the same, you would just want the intake cams. My build was completed back in the AWE Fueling Kit days, before EV14’s were around. When I upgrade injectors, I will be going with EV14’s.
