Is this the fastest Stasis car? 12.79 @ 109 at Wisconson's Great Lakes Dragway

I must agree with Vogz…at ATCO I didn’t see much of anyone really trying different things to improve their times either. Just running over and over again.

First post here. I like the names I see and the no-bullshit information I’m finding in the posts here. Why is it that none of you guys are anywhere near Northern California? I’d go to the drag strip here in Sacramento at the drop of a hat if I had someone knowledgeable to go with. It’s a bit intimidating to go try and do something like that alone with no prior experience.

If anyone plans a long weekend combined with a place to stay, drinking, and a drag strip, I’d be willing to road trip. A few thousand miles is a long way to go though.

Hello and welcome. I have to say, I’d rather be living in NorCal… and you’re near JHM! I think there’s a bunch of people driving down from Sac to JHM’s grand opening on the 21st April. (which may include you, haven’t read the thread on AZ).

Thanks! That actually will include me. I’ve been down to their new location before. Unfortunately they only have a short shifter for the B8 S4 and they weren’t planning on developing anything else for the platform until it ages some more (more cars without warranty and being modded). I also caravanned to the 034 dyno day in Fremont last weekend. There are a decent number of B5 owners around here. One guy who drove down with us has a B5 S4 Avant that dynoed over 460 HP and 480 TQ last weekend. So there are definitely some enthusiasts around here, they’re just on a different platform than me.

i agree with a lot of that. My stock rs4 time is better than 90% of the stock Rs4 times but its not because my rs4 is superfast or carbon free (it hasn’t ever been cleaned in 3 years) or i’m a good driver (I don’t fuck up but am not good by any means). It’s because I take care of all the little variables, and then do what I’ve been told to do by the properly good drivers (jaybquick/count vohn/cabracco85 etc). Then on top of that I don’t go when it’s 90 degrees and busy. I go when it’s 40 degrees and the place is empty.

Still though some tracks just work better than others(location is key).

AS for B5 S4s and my comments irking you, I’d suggest you dig a bit deeper into the B5 S4 world…just having K04s does not equal having K04s with great exhaust and great intercooling and great tuning and fuelling and great driving…on a car that is strong with a good maintenance history. That’s what I was referring to. Fact is getting all of those things together at once are not as common as people think. It’s not ‘all driver’ in the difference even with the same modlist…and don’t forget tons of the stage III cars were forced into stage III by blown K03s, rather than being well thought out builds. TONS of the cars are stage III minus…i.e. running stock intercoolers or tuning/fuelling… Don’t forget theyre also 10-14 years old now.

That’s why I said cars with the same parts. If people think they have an 11 sec car because of the turbos alone, they are morons. I think we pretty much agree here.

Old cars can run good times too. I saw a car with almost 200k on it set a stock 1/4 mile record a while back. Modern engines are amazing.

Sure old cars can…but we’re talking the b5 here.

old cars owned by high school kids who don’t maintain the car properly, then blow their turbos and end up selling the car…which is then bought and taken to stage III…well good luck lol.

B5 s4 is $4000-8000 now for the car. Sadly they are falling into the hands of (in a bunch of cases) less than careful owners). 60% of owners are under 25 according to the last poll I saw 2 yrs ago. Probably lower now.

I remember when i was in college and the B5 S4 came out. I drooled every time I saw one. Sad that they are turning into beaters in many cases.

I should have known better than to post that. Just got my a** handed to me by a Neon SRT4 from a 40 mph roll. I pulled about 3/4 car length at the start, but then after his boost built, he caught and passed me easily. I actually heard wheelspin from his car as the revs rose, even at 50+ mph. (!!)

Oh well. I still drive an S4, and he still drives a Neon! :stuck_out_tongue:

give us another 13 years and we’ll all be old beaters too lol
