Is this the fastest Stasis car? 12.79 @ 109 at Wisconson's Great Lakes Dragway

Seems like a big disconnect between Stasis and the other guys’ tuned times.

not surprising. . .

Stasis is like Dinan for BMW guys. It’s more about the badge and warranty than the innovation or performance.

gotcha

this just got uploaded to dragtimes (I setup a notifier a while back for Audi dragstrip times :D)

This is ZCD2.7T’s car. I went with him to GLD that day, so I can personally vouch for his time. He also has the AWE intake, but not sure if that played a factor (certainly not as much as the favorable weather conditions). That day was also when I ran a personal best of 12.4xx. Track opens in a few weeks - looking forward to heading back w/ my snows.

Anyway, this is my first post, but I think most of you guys know me from the other forums.

Cheers!

hey clochner, welcome.

That makes sense now. I have a thing on dragtimes.com to send me an email when an Audi 1/4 mile time is posted and that one came through when I started this thread. I like ZCD. He makes sense…no bullshit. Good dude.

welcome to the board brandon…

Saki, I get those alerts as well… will see how many you get this spring… lol 84 here today… so much for cool temps…

He’s a good guy. We’ve been to the track a few times now. And according to the 1/4 mile sticky on AZ, he does have the fastest Stasis car.

yeah, I really wanted to put the fastest stock RS4 time up but it’s not looking so good.

Sak and Clochner -

Aww, you guys are too nice!

A couple of comments about my time/car:

  • My time is just about identical to other APR version 1.0 tune-only cars, like Voltron’s after he finally removed his boat anchor 20s.
  • The newer tunes (including APR version 2.0) certainly seem to have found more power
  • I may actually suck as a drag racer - who knows?
  • I bought my car with the tune already on it, and regardless of other tunes’ power output/times, I still have a STaSIS warranty if anything goes wrong, TD1 or not

So, at least until I hit 50K miles (in perhaps 12-14 months), I’m keeping what I have. I also have yet to lose any sort of street challenge that I’ve run into in the year+ I’ve had my car.

Good stuff Z. As with all cars, people look to the fastest example as the ‘standard’ when we all know that’s very far from the truth. There’s a reason there’s a book about outliers. They exist.

i.e. B5 S4 guys all seem to think they drive low 11 second cars once they put K04 turbos on them when in fact only 3-4 people have accomplished that goal while the rest run mid to low 12s @ 113. Same in B8 land…people say ‘B8 is an 11 second car with just a tune’ when we all know reality…one car got into the 11s and it was with $8,000+ in mods and race gas. Another did so with $6,000 in mods, race gas and a 25mph tailwind. Reality? The B8 S4 with ‘just a tune’ should be a mid to mid-high 12 second car at 110 or so. To run low 12s with just a tune you need either racegas, or you need to understand how to log knock sensitivity.

LOL! Or at least have a tune that turns it off… Oh and I hope to become a further outlier, maybe add another standard deviation…

ZCD, welcome to the forum!

would be cool to get you and 81bear and 1fast-GIAC-salesman and auditurd all together to see what the cars are all really capable of. Granted some are more modded than others but who cares. Lets just see fast cars from all the tunes.

cayuga where 81bear and jspazz/ilspezzaneve is a fast track, no question. Sac where 1fast-paid-product-pusher went 12.1 is also fast (at sea level, gets nice and cold in Norcal winter/fall/spring). ATCO where auditurd went 12.4 just a tune was DA -million when he did so, and it’s also below sea level. So guys who run at hot tracks at 1500 feet should keep all of that in mind. It’s a factor…not a huge one…but it’s a factor. It also makes it tough to compare everyone.

Lets get you bitches all together and see what’s happening.

yea none of bitches do pulls. go out and race each other. thats the only way you can settle it

Saki, Agreed… I am at one of those shitty hot tracks… Thompson is 1230 feet above sea level… I would love to have all the various tunes togehter one day to make some passes…

91, I am trying man… I have a race on the 7th with a stage II car, with intake, headers, exhaust, wheels, etc. Also, hopefully with S6atron’s stage III B5… I had some races lined up last year with stage III B5’s but they weren’t able to make it… I am willing to travel to an extent depending on what I have going on… Not trying to sound cocky but I am fairly confident I currently would beat any B8 S4… That may change if/when revo/giac come out with pulleys though… My new tune is pretty choice and pulls very hard! Also I’ll probably be stage III by the time those guys release a pulley… I would really like to run the Eurocode racecar with the “Pro” driver…

If it were feasible, I’d be down to meet up with a bunch of you guys for a dragstrip day. I’m in Chicago, though, so not sure if it would work.

well s6atron had a track that was willing to rent out for 1000 bucks. It was reasonably close to his cottage. We could all meet there one day, tear up the strip, hit his cottage, then head home the next day.

^^ hmm . . . road trip, dragstrip day, chillin’ at a cottage? Sounds like a blast! Keep me in the loop if you guys decide to go ahead with this.

I dunno, I think you guys should all come up to Cayuga. There’s a short road course that’s usually open for lapping as well, and a patio bar right at the edge of the right lane from 60’ to 120’ or so. I’ve had a couple fun Friday nights there last year with my bro, and we’ll head downtown Burlington afterwards.

Ron, I’ll board you, no problem if you come around to our side of the Lake…

americans don’t like passports lol

besides this is maybe 2.5 hrs from you and I. Not far from port huron I think he said.

Outliers exist, but not because of the cars themselves. Conditions, and drivers usually have much more to do with results than the actual car does. Sure every once in a while you get a car that doesn’t run right, but that’s the exception, not the norm.

For example. When I got my S4, I noticed that a few people had been into the high 12s stock. I knew that no matter what, with good conditions and a clean pass, I could get my stock S4 into the high 12s without a problem.

My first trip out (low 60s and a stiff crosswind) I ran a best of 12.83@107.3mph. (highest trap of the day was 108.3mph) This was also with only ASR off as this is my first Audi and I was not privy to the ASR/ESP disabling thing. So all my launches were done from a very neutered 4000rpm. With another better weather day I don’t doubt at all that I could match or beat the quickest stock S4 time. I don’t have a factory freak, I just have been drag racing for a long time and know what it takes to run impressive E.Ts. Give me any stock 6-speed B8 S4 and the same is possible.

People run slow 1/4 mile E.T.s for different reasons, but it’s usually the driver and the conditions that cause the “outliers”, not the cars themselves.

So your example of the guys with B5s that think they have 11 second capable cars with K04s that actually run mid 12s irks me a bit. If the car has the same parts and a good tune compared to a B5 S4 that ran in the 11s (assuming no weight reduction), there is no reason the car running mid 12s isn’t CAPABLE of 11s. It’s all in the driver and the conditions.

Give me the parts/tune for a setup that has been proven to run a certain E.T. and I will bet money that I can run very close to or beat that E.T.

My first post on revolution
