lmao 37 mile distance, that is less than 37 laps depending on the track. Some Tracks it could be 10 laps. What is even the point then?
Most track sessions for HPDE are 8-9 laps at 3 miles a lap, so like 25 miles. So if there is a supercharger nearby like Laguna or Sonoma, its possible to go out 4 times. If there’s just a 220 amp hookup, you’d be able to take that car out twice a day - at 9AM and 4PM. Most people with an absurd one off car like that bring 2 cars to the track.
they are talking about a competitive race competition series. not HPDEs it is stupid
Yeah fuck face. Formula E each driver has 2 cars because it runs out of charge half way through.
Apparently they expand on the article.
wow no need for name calling, If you said Formula E I would have told you that is equally as stupid.
he didn’t call you stupid. He said it is stupid…this whole concept of racing a family car and stripping it out and struggling to finish. Fuck face.
Do we care that the P100D can do 0-60 in 2.2 seconds now? I think it got into the 10’s for 1/4 mile. Something like 10.7 at 121 MPH.
.
-
i think the P90D already went 10s
-
based on what…is that an actual tested car or another tesla ‘we think it might do’ that proves not to be accurate or attainable other than the first time you do a rip from 0-60 mph in perfect conditions with a 100% charge…and you miss the mark when you have a 92% charge…and miss it wildly when you are at 40 or 30% charge
-
0-60 for really fast cars is getting low, which is great. Especially really expensive cars…which this is.
The P100D is basically a supercar at this pricing. It’s pushing $200,000 to get one with nice wheels (which won’t meet your performance numbers) and good interior options and a sunroof. That’s fucking insane pricing, never mind insane mode. Think about it…everyone raves about ‘insane mode P100D’ acceleration, or raves about the autopilot fanciness. OK, let’s have a look at how much money this thing is before we throw a party for it:
Order or Save Design
Model S 100 kWh Performance All-Wheel Drive
$224,900!!! That’s in Canada, $162,000 for the same car in the US.
Exterior
Obsidian Black Metallic Paint
Sunroof
21" Silver Turbine Wheels
Interior
Ultra White Tesla Premium Seats
Dark Ash Wood Décor
Integrated Center Console
Black Alcantara Headliner
Options
Ludicrous Speed Upgrade
Tesla Red Brake Calipers
High Amperage Charger Upgrade
Enhanced Autopilot
Full Self-Driving Capability
Premium Upgrades Package
Smart Air Suspension
Ultra High Fidelity Sound
Subzero Weather Package
Lol it doesn’t need a $10k full self driving package to do the fast acceleration. It’s never going to be nice inside like a Porsche, no matter how much premium upgrades you add.
With extended white leather and premium package it’s about $130k in the US. Frankly that model is stupid and most anyone could be very happy with 100D for $90k. Going 0-60 in 2 seconds in an electric car is extremely uncomfortable, like getting hit by a bus.
I’d still get a base 991.
Wait…so the self driving/autopilot aren’t an integral component that make the car special? So you’re advocating buying a stripper with no heated seats, no fast charger, no autopilot, no nice wheels, no sunroof, no premium interior…and then saying it’s great that it’s ‘only $130,000’
Tell me…at what point do you realise that this just doesn’t work lol
I’m looking for a replcaement for our B8 A4 Avant. Where I currently live there are no Audi/BMW/MB dealers that are conveniently located. So I’m not loving the idea of having a German car that will need to be towed away for 3-4 days to fix. Ford/GM/Chrysler are …Ford/GM/Chrysler, so I’m not too interested in anything they sell. I started thinking what would be a car that
a) won’t need to much physical service
b) won’t depreciate much (price is nice to talk about but depreciation is far more important than purchase price as this will be your real cost
I thought maybe a Tesla would be a good option.
Problem is pricing is so absurd. Even with our government forking out a FORTUNE in incentives ($14,000 for an electric 5 seater with greater than 18 kwh battery) it just doesn’t make sense.
at that Price a fully loaded RS7 Performance (for the same speed basically) is less and is not hindered or confused by long trips
I’ve documented pretty well on here that I think Tesla is reckless with their assisted driving features. I wouldn’t order them on Panamara either. I know how to drive and I think the technology is 20 years too early. Further, I don’t think it is safe without lidar.
I don’t think the current Model S comes in stripper form. It comes with heated sears and all of that stuff. The second gen seat is standard now. They’ve improved the pricing and packaging quite a bit. Again, I’m seeing it come up as $95k for a 100D with a couple of options like leather and premium package.
The car has supercharger capability. The other high amp charger is just if you want faster home charging. No public charger is going to give you juice that fast.
I think 20" wheels are the right size for that car, so I’d go aftermarket. They only offer 19 and 21.
I tried the crazy full roof sunroof in a Q7 recently. Nice if you have a driver, but not sure as the driver I would give a fuck. Unless I’m sitting in the back seat while T1000 fully self drives the car. Next year right? Just one software push?

Saki you should really just go Panamera Hybrid. They’re about $108k in the US with a few reasonable options. I guess that’s $100k after negotiating, so essentially similar to Tesla which is MSRP only.
2.9 turbo motor is a good mule.

not enough headroom unfortunately. I sat in one and it was cramped.
this email made me think of this thread. free lunch is over?
[quote]Starting March 1st, there will be a fee to use the EV stations in the parking garage.
Beginning Wednesday, March 1, 2017 the EV stations will charge for their use. It will be a nominal rate of $0.25/Kwh which is just enough to cover the cost of electricity and maintenance of the stations.
This /Kwh cost only applies which the car is actively charging. Once your car is fully charged the fee discontinues, even though the car remains plugged in.

That’s about $21 to ‘fill up’ your Tesla 85
They’re all going that route. The ones here charge $10/hr of connection…and they’re 50 kwh/hr power stations (I think I have that right) so basically to charge a tesla P85 or something similar, you’re at about $17. Our provincial government has rolled out about 150 of these stations across the province (or is in the process) and none of them are free.
The Tesla network is free for older Teslas. The thing is you don’t likely use the Tesla ones too often as there are only a few of them spread out and they’re mostly for long trips to keep you moving. A friend has a Tesla 85 (gets about 250 miles of range best case, and in winter (with heat on) and going 75 mph, he gets around 190 miles. He just visited from 120 miles away, then on his way back about 40 miles from my house on the highway he stopped at a tesla supercharger for 30 minutes for a coffee/piss/email break and added another 120 miles of charge. He had another stop out of the way on his way back, and got home fine. I guess managing it is the key but it seems a bit annoying. The other side of the coin is how often do you travel 120 miles from home in one day? Pretty rare.
This is the reason I like the plug in hybrid option. Like the Porsche Cayenne e-hybrid. If they can make that battery even bigger on the next generation (say 30 kwh instead of the 17 or whatever it is) and have it paired with a supercharged or turbocharged small displacement V6, that’s a cool option. The current one is too but you can only travel about 20 miles on a charge, all electric. That’s fine for short commutes but it would be great if you could get 50 miles out of a charge. That covers most people’s drive to and from work…and that also eliminates range anxiety.
What a piece of shit.
What a piece of shit.
you get to die when a software bug it hit instead of when you or someone messes up. could that be a lower percentage overall on average? probably… do I want to be brought down to the average? no.
