I saw this story and it reminded me of a few threads here—especially with the IMs. Maybe there is a German version of the “Italian tuneup”, for our v10s, right?

In the case of the Maserati that makes sense. Put a race transmission in a car your going to need to really beat on the transmission to get the clutches to bed in.
On the 5.2 I think the carbon build up is part of the issue with too short of drive times and not enough WOT driving. Things like spark plugs and 02 sensors need to get up to operational temps to clean themselves off. So a good healthy WOT pull through 1 or 2 full gears each few days would be helpful.
