thats evillempire, a guy whose car never trapped ANYWHERE NEAR the TTS RS4 car lol. I believe on his hottest tune and race gas he was trapping barely 120 MPH and running mid-high 11s. Awesome to be sure but he’s a bit lost in B5 land, clinging to the dream when he’s trash talking cars that everyone on earth would rather have than his beat-old-3rd-set-of-turbos-useless-without-race-gas AWE stage III car. His car would run low 12s without his precious C16…a.k.a. what a tuned/exhaust RS4 runs, or a stock RS5 almost runs.

It isn’t low 12’s, and the trap speed isn’t anything to marvel about. Keep in mind that magazine testing is HEAVILY corrected. When we tested a B8 S4 with R&T, after they factored in their corrections, they shaved 4 tenths off the 0-60 (honest truth). Not to discredit the RS5, but it is what it is. By any standards, it is a fast car, but in stock form it doesn’t compete with some of the highly modified forced-induction cars. Even with corrections, I imagine that individual owners will be able to best the magazine times, but it still won’t be in the territory of the newer modified FI cars.
^^ That’s one 1/4 mile time. I wouldn’t take that as the standard-bearer for the RS5. I could have sworn that I’ve seen times for it in the mid 12s . . .
Plus, in terms of mods, don’t you think the RS5 has plenty of potential? APR is already planning on releasing a supercharger upgrade for it.
I’m just saying, that is the road test. It is a good benchmark against other cars that were magazine tested. The customer times won’t get more than a couple tenths faster than that (stock cars).
Theoretically, any car has great tuning potential if you are talking about adding a supercharger/turbocharger. Most people prefer ease of potential, which for a newer car I would say the N54. Legitimate gains of 120whp with bolt-ons, something that the average customer can do. While we would all love to take a fast naturally aspirated car and add a power-adder, it just isn’t always the most feasible or cost-effective option.
The RS5 is an awesome car and has arguably the best looks on the road. But it is what it is. A high 12’s quarter car that traps 108-109 (maybe mids in time). Fast, yes. It all depends what you compare it to.

The only one I’ve seen in the hands of an owner at the quarter mile was in Australia I believe and he was running 12.3-12.4.
While I know that’s not impressive compared to your car that has run 0 @ 0 MPH, again…this car is bone stock. My RS4 would get whipped by the RS5. My RS4 bone stock ran 12.75 @ 108.3 on a day when a couple of highly modified K03 B5 S4s struggled to see low 13s and a stage 1 B5 was in the high 14s, low 15s, comfortably. Another time, I ran 13.1 @ 106 on a hot ass night when a stage III B5 S4 could only manage 13.30 @ 110 and another one was mid-high 12s @ 112 with some race mixed in. Both were K04 cars…not sure what else. . The worship of the ‘stage 3’ B5 S4 is a bit absurd if you ask me. Sure some of them are fast, but the grand majority of them aer just like today’s stock times from cars like the RS4/RS5. Ironically those cars are deemed fail by the B5 community, because they’re not forced induction, while the B8 is considered win because it is.
As I’ve shown on this forum and others a number of times, the B8 S4 and the B7 RS4 respond similarly to $3000-5000 in mods. Both end up low 12s @ 110-113 MPH on pump gas. Both start off high 12s at 107-108 MPH bone stock. I don’t get this fascination with forced induction that causes people to overlook the facts.
From what I’ve gathered a lot of the B5 community (not all) are in their own world. They heavily favor their platform while discrediting nearly all others that are in their performance margin. It’s a fun platform and performance can be had for a good dollar, but I agree most of them over look the stock vs stock comparisons. The level of performance coming off the showroom floors these days is marveling.

I didn’t even see anyone mention the B5. I mentioned the N54 as a comparison, for what its worth. It seems that you are the one who is obsessed with the B5, seeing that you instantly bring it up anytime someone mentions performance.
And even in the C&D article, the RS5 trapped 2 mph lower than the M3.
Have you not read the thread? The B5 was brought up by EvillEmpire…jackson…who owns a B5. Someone posted his troll comment. Then you, another B5 guy, chimed in.
Both of your cars, if you bumped into an RS5 and decided to run to 4th gear from a dig (i.e. just a normal day on the road…not rushing out to get C16 in the tank and switching to a race file), wouldn’t be far ahead of the RS5 if at all, even though you were both trash talking. That’s the point.

Funny thing is the other day a very similar situation happened to me, but with a 4.2L R8 (on paper, the same performance as an RS5). How many bus lengths do you think I put on him? Doesn’t matter because your RS5 is fast…oh wait. Well your B5 is slow…oh wait.
