My body shop guy originally quoted me $450-500 for the labor but we shall see what they actually end up charging me in the end. In addition to that they are also doing a full body respray and some other body work so it is a package deal.
I do sublet repairs for local shops and dealerships as an on call side of my Jimmy’s Garage. Yesterday they had me out to diagnose an issue with a different Audi so I got a chance to see the work done on my car.
Thanks. I like the stock B6 recaro seats. The only thing that I might change interior wise is a flat bottom steering wheel but I don’t want to spend more than a grand including the airbag. I don’t really need a fancy flat bottom steering wheel. It is kind of confusing what has to be done with the airbag for a B6 from the research that I have done. Can anybody explain the airbag issue for me?
If I get time to research things then I may look into what Kufatec offers for interior electronic stuff.

Jimmy, I bought an S3 wheels and airbag for under $800. The S3 wheel steering wheel controls will not work on our cars though, you have to find a B8 S4/S5 wheel if you want that function. The airbags on the S3 and A3 are single stage as stated, you need to change the yellow plug on the airbag harness for the control module and then change the pin location of a few of the ground plugs in the big yellow plug. the B6 A4 section on AZ has a few resourceful threads on this.
I looked and I like this one the most. It is also one of the cheapest at $276.07. That one also looks like I should be able to swap my airbag over too.
Thanks for bringing this up. I want to fit a new flat bottom wheel but dont want to spend a grand on a wheel. These look like great options. Wonder if these will be a fairly simple swap into the allroad with basically b6/7 coding now?

This is a straight swap into B6, just transfer over your current airbag, considering of course you already have sport 3-spoke steering wheel. Same thing with B7, obviously starting with a stock B7 steering wheel.
I believe if you source out parts oversees, you could have B8.5 FBSW for under a thousand.
Yeah, I am going to pick one of these up eventually. Will be a direct swap and you know for sure your airbag is working. The idea of swapping a wheel over from a different car and modding the wiring harness makes me nervous
