Well I hope my picture loads on here. I was told to join here by v8a6 so here is goes. I have a RHD Japanese spec A6 C6 with the rare timing chain engine that came in a few. So far my mods are only wheels and front S-line style lip. It came with H&R springs that left the front up in the air and tucked the rear down so it looks like I have 1000lb in my trunk. The parts and mods I have on the way to me are as follows. 2in bolt on fender flares to make it a wide body look and also to give the 380mm brake kit I ordered fit behind the wheels. I also have 275/30R19 tires coming so I can get grip on the awesome roads here in japan and I also have some coilovers coming to be able to make it handle right and sit right. I will eventually be doing a custom stainless exhaust from the manifolds back and hopefully be able to have the stage 2 APR tune uploaded by one of the local APR authorized audi sports shops. I will also be making my own custom CAI so I can hopefully get around 360hp at the crank all said and done. It is a daily driver so I tossed the idea of custom fitting the jhm S4 supercharger to it since Its not even a manual only tiptronic. Anyways thats about it for now, I also have plans for the front grill and headlights/tails but thats later. Thanks for the invite v8a6.

Hey JDM, welcome aboard! Great looking car

If I were you, I would try and get the coilovers on ASAP. I think it is almost impossible that you have the correct springs for the model on there. It is either the incorrect springs or something else is messed up up front with the suspension.

Which 380 BBK did you order?

Adding 2in fender flares is a bold move. I’m having a hard time envisioning a positive outcome, but hey, everyone has different tastes.

Almost everyone who has done a custom CAI on the v8 Audis has ended up losing power. The factory CAI is very well designed, drawing in cooler air, which is also pressurized. On the v8 with a catback, I wouldnt mess with it.

Headers on your car would be awesome, but I dont think any have ever been made for the chain driven C6 v8s. I wonder if the JHM B6/B7 S4 headers would fit.

Well the intake im planning will utalize the stock air box but im going to mod it a little to allow more air inside to a k&n style filter. The coilovers will be awesome for sure and i realize flares are a bild move and alot of people will hate it but i know it will turn out awesome. The exhaust i am planning will be one of a kind for an audi and ill leave it at that until its done. I did ask jhm if the headers would fit and they said no but gave no reason why. The brakes i am getting are from the UK called PB brakes and while there is not much about them in the US the bmw guys have been having good results with them. Ill be making a build page once i get the parts in and start modding it.

Welcome. Let us know more on the intake before you do it. It sounds like your taking the right steps. The OEM air box is great so if your adding to it that’s good.

The headers won’t fit the A6 as the body is actually tighter to the transmission then the S4.

If would see if you can get a Jhm tune for the A6. They are very well known for making the best 4.2 tunes.

Well i want to upgrade the elbow from the box to the TB and also just add a ram air snorkle to the bottom of the air box and add a better cone filter on the inside of the air box and heat wrap the whole thing so it stays cold. I have been heat wrapping intakes and charge puping for years with amazing results. Usually about 50-70 degrees differance from wrapping to not wrapping. Eventually ill pull the intake manifold and heat tape that also. Its amazing what a little science can do to a stock system lol. Luckily i found out that the manifolds on my engine are the same as S4 and S6 manifolds and are tubular. Long tubes would be nice but its a family car that want to take for a spirited drive now and then so im just improving on the stock parts. The manifolds back however are getting replaced for hand welded stainless steel. It will cost a penny but i want it done right.

Oh yeah while sure jhm tunes are awesome i very much doubt they would do a tune without the car there in the shop. Apr has tunes for my car so im going that route for now.

Apr is very good they aren’t known for there na tunes tho. And as a side note. APR has used jhms tuner in the past to assist with 4.2 tunes. So there’s a chance jhm might already have your box code. If you feel more comfortable with apr that’s fine just letting you know.

Check out jhm for a great intake manifold mod and intake spacers. They reply help out. Sounds like your off to a great start with all the heat shielding and air box ideas.

Anyone have a suggestion on cheap rear brake upgrades?

I dont know the exact stat, but something like 80% of your braking is done with the front brakes. Im doing 390mm front Brembo’s from the RS6, and Im not touching the rears. From pics, the rear RS6 brakes look like they use the same calipers as the S6, with just a bigger rotor.

If you want to go all out, get this set of ceramic RS6 brakes for the rear…

http://www.ebay.de/itm/Komplette-Original-Audi-RS6-Ceramic-Bremsanlage-fuer-HA-356x28-/161722084453

However, in that case, youll probably want the front 420mm RS6 ceramics to match, or you might throw off the front/rear brake balance.

Also, I’m doing the RS6 master cylinder and brake booster. That will do more for your braking than huge rear brakes.

Any links to where your getting the brake booster and BMC? I tried looking them up and nothing.

You have to scour ebay.co.uk and ebay.de. Unless you want to pay full price from OEM.

We havent installed mine as of yet, so you might want to hold off until we verify that it is an easy install. You probably wouldnt want them until you have your BBK on the front, and it is something you can always add later.

Noted. Seeing that the fronts now are a large 2 piston Ill see just how much difference the smaller 8 piston makes. Anyone here have a APR transmission tune? Or a triptronic tune from another company they would recommend?

There are a only a few company’s that offer transmission tunes. For your car I don’t think there will be any. There is one company that might but I have already suggested them a few times and I feel if I did again I might sound like a broken record

I was told by 034motorsports that their RS6 and S6 trans tune will work on my car but I have to have the Engine ecu tuned first.

Your transmission is a 6 speed right. If so 034 thinks your car is a 5 speed.

I hope not since i told them I have the A6C6. If they dont know what trans that has then i deffinately dont want them giving me a tune lol.
