JHM Full Resonated W/ HFC Exhaust vids

My first impression is i really like the new system… havent done anything to get hard data, but i do feel like the car breaths/pulls a little harder for what it is worth.

Sound wise… i like it. it is much quiter that my previous set up (Non res AWE with fully gutted OEM DP’s), but i like that.

Fitment… hangs a little low which i am not that worried about, but i may ping my mechanic who installed to brainstorm ways we can possibly modify it to hang a little better… ( there is a post on QW that shows a few pictures)

Sorry i dont know how to embed the vids here so here are the links…

Good stuff Zach. Next time you are local maybe we can plan an advance meet up and we’ll take the time to do a more indepth vid. I’ll have mine installed by then and we can compare etc.

A stock vs. JHM comparo would be good^^^^

Zach thanks for posting those videos up. Car sounds nice. The JHM is very manageable, sound wise. You don’t feel like a dickhead

Coming to the camera WOT, going away from the camera WOT, launching away from the camera etc. Also, important that when you are doing a ‘flyby’ that you continue to fly, well by the camera. Quite often the driver lets off at the camera…producing zero sound. Hammer it well past the camera. We need to bring over the exhaust vid rules

p.s. someone needs to remind Raudidriver that the JHM exhaust is the most handmade exhaust on the market. That guy seems to be completely out to lunch on this car, despite having owned one for 4 years.

[quote=RaudiDriver/BruisedRS4]No tin a million years would I trade out my Milltek for a JHM system. The Milltek is a handmade
system and sounds much better, IMO.

Ha what are the exhaust vid rules?

And the soonest I think we/I can get a good comparison vid made would be at the track in November (10/11) where I know there are supposed to be a stock, def a capristo and I think a couple of millteks…

^^^that’s awesome! Hopefully you guys can work a couple of pulls in too. ZMON are you tuned? If you get a tune with lots of upside built into the parameters, fitting that exhaust will deliver dramatic delta. Amazing Xpipe…very gentle bends…2.75"…perforated core straight through resonators and perfo core mufflers…just a great design. You can’t really bitch it out performance wise at all.

I made a list of exhaust video rules on another forum after we were all bitching out various exhaust vids for not doing this or that. It was pretty funny. So I posted a list of ‘guidelines’ to make the vids tell the full story…and then I made a new exhaust vid of my car and broke one of the rules and jfunkey roasted me for it lol.

p.s. your videos are very well received on quattroworld. Is it just me, or are guys taking shots at ebwerks (lots of cracks about raspy nonresonated and overly loud exhausts by day trader, ragdoll londonrs4 etc.). I also found it interesting that mick is scrambling to get resonators put on the ebwerks catback. I guess that’s the only thing they didn’t copy JHM on. Now he’ll make it an official sweep.

I am not tuned and will wait until may 13 for when my CPO is up…

It does seem to be gettin some good reviews on QW

I love the performance aspect and can’t wait to be tuned…! The fitment issues (not really and issue for me) are to be more expected being that it is a beta model. I don’t need to pay ~2K more for one that is identical to the one I have but just fits better!!!

i think it is clear the JHM prototype sounds better than the production benriquewerks exhaust.

the best part is they think cats will make it sound better…it will sounds fiff for sure but they dont know what it will sound like.

also, the design of the benriquewerks exhaust which is a very high quality piece no doubt…does not have any room for resonators.

You can fit 8" resonators on there. Probably even 12" if a competent shop is doing the work I bet.

I think it’s funny how nobody (and I mean nobody) on quattrofail has brought up the jagged bends in the rear section of the ebwerks exhaust.

do you mean 8-12" long? …

you know how big the ones are on the JHM…they surely would not fit.

when zach looked at the exhaust…I said to him are those resonators big enough…i mean you can put your arm into them…they are huge. obiously not through the 2.75 piping but after that they are like 5" maybe in diameter?

it might be even tight on smaller resonators.

resonators might fit but i am not seeing them fit in the mid section of the exhaust.

they might fit again might in the muffler sections…but is the the optimum location…probably not

my point is they designed this exhaust w/o resonators intentionally

it is obviously easier to remove the resonators from the equation to get a better fit. but now i dont think it is going to be easy to add them.

hopefully for their sake the cats help them out.

jhm ones are probably 14"

yes they are probably about 14" in length but shit…the diameter of those things are big too.

since the tubing of the exhaust is 2.75 it is clear that the diameter needs to be larger…

i am not seeing room for something that large in the mid section…bc they thought they were shooting only for performance and lost on sound.

Thew JHM resonators are 14" iirc.

I happen to agree with most of what you said. There are shorter 6" - xx" resonators available and if needed they could probably fit a pair in. Won’t be easy and I agree they were never planning on having them part of the system based on current design.

Good point about fitment. One of the reasons the EB exhaust seems to hug the under carrriage more tightly is most likely due to no cats and no resonators. I bet brackets will have to be modified to add those two items after the fact.

I never thought about that.interesting catch

ZMon…there is a video of ny07rs4’s actual exhaust on my YouTube if you were considering swapping his no cat

for your catted. On the red RS4 . A couple videos actually

It is not crazy or obnoxious at all. Just a little more growl to it. Way quieter than catless S4 4.2.
