Well yeah do that until you get used to it. I usually just do a little gas and slip the clutch for a split second at 1100 to get going, then carry on my way. You usually can’t go into 2nd if you’re under 5mph or so because you get a nasty flywheel chatter meaning you are chugging the motor.
I hate when you’re rolling at 3mph or so, and you have to blip the throttle to 1100 to get a smooth transition into 1st. I always over or under-blip and end up bucking. So if you have to go below 5mph and then accelerate again, you may as well just stop completely because trying for 1st never works out.
Or just throw it in second and finagle the clutch like I do.
