Tried using the LA today and it didn’t work. Car just goes to red line and stays there. Not sure whats up. I had the ESP off. Do you have to turn the ESP off right before you want to launch the car in order to activate LA?
When did you get your tune, and/or get an updated tune? It’s only on the tunes in the last 6 months or so, but they’ll upgrade your tune for free if you send it back.
I just got the tune done within the last month. I’m thinking it could be a clutch switch issue since my RPMs hang a little bit(0.5sec) after letting off the gas in the low RPM range. Similar to Trex’s issue. I thought it was just a quirk of the car but maybe not.

just ask jhm
I don’t think LA is automatically included…is it?
My ECU is at JHM Today getting tuned actually, I sent an e-mail asking if they can add LC to my tune… but I have yet to get a response… we will see what I get
When I sent my ECU in for the tune I made sure I asked for LA online during ordering, and I wrote it on a piece of paper with my ECU asking for it and making sure they did the 93 oct version. Mine works great although I feel like I never get to use it.

Any Tip cars should have it if the car was tuned after August.
LA is automatically on the mt tunes. I remember a thread a while back on AZ where some guys found out they had LA. it says it right on the ecu in marker.
Was the clutch all the way down? That’s a stupid question I know

I cant remember if it said it on the ECU or not. I assumed it was included in all tunes now days. Waiting on a reply from Keaton.
The clutch was all the way down but thats why I question whether its some sort of clutch switch issue. I also have to do a log to see if the car is indeed going 100% open throttle with the “pedal to the metal” (cheesy I know :D). This weekend if it doesn’t snow up here again.
I tried LA yesterday and it did not work.
-1st gear
-clutch all the way in
- rev’s went up to redline

And then you completely let go of the clutch and then what?
^well if it doesn’t hold the revs before redline, it doesn’t have LA. I.e. he would just be dumping the clutch from redline (not good). So I wouldn’t advise testing it that way. The revs definitely should hold well before redline (typically in the neighborhood of 5k-5.5k).
vdub, you were mentioning having similar hanging revs when engaging the clutch as trexturk correct? May be similar issue with clutch position sensor, but I’m not sure.
Has anyone gotten a response from JHM about LA in the tune recently? Apat on AZ also mentioned his recent tune (past 6 months) didn’t have LA, I’m wondering if they’re reworking something or if it wasn’t included for a reason etc.
^^^ Still awaiting a response from Keaton@JHM
I never got a response either on why I didn’t recieve LA
and no haha after I rev’d to redline I did not dump the clutch… I simply let my RPMS drop all the way back down.
I have only launched my S4 once ever and don’t plan on doing it again for a long time. My stock clutch grabs really far out and it almost feels like it may need to be replaced in the next year or so… Unless it is supposed to grab that far out? it wont grab until about 80% out

I would assume there going to update the file for you. If the S4 is like the S5 there are TONS of different box codes for the motor.
If it helps I had to ask for the LA to be added to my S5 tune. So did another local guy I know. I assume JHM includes it for free if people ask.
how do you like the new tune
the new tune is addicting… at 1/2 throttle around car my car almost reminds me of my k03 in my A4… it’s torquey, it’s smooth, it’s fun. Just 1/2 throttle till 4,500 RPMS in 1st, 2nd, & 3rd gear makes for torquey fun city driving. The 4.2L stock is not that fun to zip around town in, it wants to be opened up. With the tune, I rarely have to go full throttle to have fun. Also, 1st gear seems almost pointless now. I find myself in 2nd gear all the time now. I just need to resolve my high idle problem

You should try it with a supercharger lol
Good luck resolving your issue.
(I need a new clutch slave cylinder and until then, I can’t go WOT over 5k rpms without my clutch pedal sticking. Pain in the ass.)
So my mechanic did some vag-come work, now my LA works… strange, but awesome
Awesome, glad to hear it is worked out. Like I mentioned in the other thread, is it possible to find out what he did exactly?
