JHM Nitrous Kit, Tell me why I should or should not buy it

Hey guys, been a while since i posted here but i’d rather ask this here on AR than the other site.

So i’ve been eyeballing the JHM Nos kit for a few weeks now and i think its a great bang for buck. I’ve talked to a few other people about the kit as well. People who have owned it and some that give me info even though they haven’t owned the kit. From what i’ve gathered it is a good kit that works as intended and could possibly be made better. So i did some research into window switches and progressive controllers, i will admit i didn’t find a lot of info on which is better but it was only a few hours of cruising google and browsing mostly LS forums and similar threads that were focused on Nos applications.

I don’t plan on using the kit every day and drain the bottle regularly. The car is really only driven on weekends. I am looking for info on fuel delivery specifically the window switch that is used. i know the 70 shot is not a large shot but i am wondering how healthy it is to begin spraying full blast at 4k rpm and if coming off the throttle and back on (full throttle) could possibly hurt the car. Even though i know very little about nitrous i feel coming off the throttle then back on at full blast could be to much for the car. i don’t want the car to pop and throw a rod or whatnot. I don’t plan on building my spare until after i buy a house in the near future lol. But it seems like a shock to engine to me and a progressive controller would be more beneficial, but like i said i am not very educated in this department with the BHF and nos.

So i know a majority of you guys are super knowledgable with this kit. Would you leave the kit as is? is it worth modifying the kit with a upgraded controller?

My car is a 2004 6 speed with just under 110k on the clock. i just sent my IM out to be modified and powder coated. I have catless 2.5" downpipes and non res FI catback. Intake spacers, 93 tune and stage 1 clutch and LWFW and fresh timing components.

TIA i look forward to seeing others take on this and learning a thing or two!

I have had the kit for several trouble free years. Ive bought a JHM stage 1 kit but still love my JHM NOS kit and actually don’t think I’ll be getting rid of it.

To be honest its one of the best thought out kits there is in the industry. Its a plate system so some of the best fuel and NOS mixing ability there is.

The 4k window switch works great. It comes in and at that RPM its a good balance. You feel it coming in but its high enough in the RPM that your not going to put as much stress on the rods as you would adding 75whp at say 3000. its fun and fast.

To reduce the concern of the power increase make sure you have a good supporting system especially in the exhaust. You need to make sure your cats are removed IMHO. The fact you have catless dps is a good thing.

The progressive controller is a good idea but your pulsing the solionids to do that and its hard to control to be honest.

I seriously considered the JHM nitrous kit, but with an Avant, there’s nowhere to hide the bottle.

it fits in spare wheel well if you really want it hidden in the avant

Twice while on the road I’ve needed my spare tire, so the wheel well is not an option for me.

Can’t you hide it behind the trunk lining? Or is the avant different than the sedan in that aspect?

What trunk lining?

On both sides of the wheel well you should have the space where the sub would go and where on the driver side where the CD player and navi disk would go. If you don’t have that unit you have lots of space there for a bottle. There will be some issues with how the bottle heater would work as the best way to put a bottle in that spot would be to stand it up. But there is a lot of room there if your looking for a good hideing space.

I have a complete kit plus the remote opener with a spare carbon bottle/heater/bracket ill sell for $2500 shipped!

I ordered one back in April. Hasn’t shipped yet😔. Website 2-4weeks to piece the kit together as you probably know. I’m pushing 2 months and looks like it’s turning into a three month ordeal to order a damn spray kit. I’m assuming the nitrous plates are taking a while to come in from a metal fab shop I hope. Otherwise I would have skipped this and bought a s/c kit used. Honestly probably going to sell this once I get it. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

We do apologize for the delay, we had to wait on our supplier for a couple components that took longer than expected. It’s getting put together now and should ship next week.

As an aside, How would this do on the v10 cars?
