JHM Tuned B7 RS4 with TVS1320 Supercharger - What did it run at the dragstrip?

Just wondering if anyone can give us some info on this RS4. It was the APR development/show car and had the APR supercharger kit on it, which APR asked CountVohn to tune for them to see if he could get more out of it (more than 12.7 @ 107 lol).

After he changed nothing but the tune (flashed in the staging lanes below), he went 12.1 @ 116.

(APR later used that tune as the building blocks for their own ‘revised tune’ lol…which begs the question: If I copy a Metallica song onto my iPod does that mean I wrote it? ;D)

Moving on…this RS4 has had some other JHM options added to it like a stage 5 clutch, 2.75" JHM downpipes, 2.75" JHM catback, etc. Last time I saw the car, I was riding in a friend’s stage III B5 S4.

Here’s the view of the RS4 I had from the passenger seat of the B5 near the end of a 1st gear roll to 5th gear pull. No driver errors…no bad running excuses or nothing…just a good old fashioned beatdown.

Sick stuff. The RS4 was pulling hard. Nice comparo to see your old car (B7 S4 + JHM goodies) run against this Stage III B5, then to see that same Stage III B5 up against the S/C, JHM tuned + JHM goodies RS4. Impressive run for the RS4.

Now, imagine that RS4 with the JHM blower…

yeah, that B5 absolutely walked my old S4, which was basically stock RS4 fast. It put 3-4 cars on my from 3rd to top of 4th. I’d estimate it should run 12.1-12.3 @ 115 in the quarter mile (the B5). Seeing the RS4 put 3-4 cars on it in similar pulls…and put 3 buslengths on it in a 1st to 5th pull is mindblowing.

That was indeed a mind blowing video. I don’t know if the frankinturbos are better then the RS6 turbos but I know there suposed to be better then the ko4’s. No matter how you stack it that RS4 was moving out.

Frankenturbos are veeery similar to , but slightly better than K04 turbos. They flow better up top.

RS6 turbos are another notch up.

The reason for the thread is because I heard that the RS4 in that quick video went to the dragstrip. I was wondering what it ran.

OMFG. I watched this video several times. That car sounds like hell on wheels. What a great sound. What a absolute destruction of the Vast tuned car. Was the stage iii car really racing?

I would love to hear more information about this car. OMG I can’t get that sound out of my head. Is there more footage on that car? I could watch it all day long.

you guys need to remember

  1. this is a TVS1320…a.k.a. not a very well chosen blower for the RS4
  2. this car in the state it’s in vs. a sorted JHM supercharged S4 wouldn’t be far apart
  3. the stage III avant is a typical K04/FT stage III car (actually it’s atypical in that it was running well, but you know what I mean…typical performance wise for a good running stage III B5 lol)

Take Jason’s car or 91GL’s car and line it up with that B5 and they would kill it also.

Jason (Jason Harbinson from JHM) told me he didn’t think that RS4 felt all that fast when he was driving it. He was comparing it to his B6.

I just can’t wait to see a JHM Vortech kit on an RS4 without the 425 whp ceiling on its head…THAT’S going to be a funny video!

I know they were saying the RS4 has some parts of the motor that are more stout than the non-FSI 4.2s…How much power can the RS4 hold on a stock block?

–I’m really thinking about getting into an RS4 within a couple years
