JHM Tuned B7 RS4 with TVS1320 Supercharger - What did it run at the dragstrip?

lol if you heard it in person you’d shit your diaper. I did multiple times. Then when i rode in it i jizzed everywhere. Brutal machine

there’s more footage, but…

but…?

HOLY FUCK NUGGETS. I WANT RS4!!

Makes me want to part out my car and ditch it for an RS4

fuuuuuuuuu

lol

you guys need to remember

  1. this is a TVS1320…a.k.a. not a very well chosen blower for the RS4
  2. this car in the state it’s in vs. a sorted JHM supercharged S4 wouldn’t be far apart
  3. the stage III avant is a typical K04/FT stage III car (actually it’s atypical in that it was running well, but you know what I mean…typical performance wise for a good running stage III B5 lol)

Take Jason’s car or 91GL’s car and line it up with that B5 and they would kill it also.

Jason (Jason Harbinson from JHM) told me he didn’t think that RS4 felt all that fast when he was driving it. He was comparing it to his B6.

I just can’t wait to see a JHM Vortech kit on an RS4 without the 425 whp ceiling on its head…THAT’S going to be a funny video!

but y’all won’t see it! Privacy issues.

Maybe just the soundtrack then? ;D

lol…

The soundtrack really isnt bad either. Some of those pulls sound mean as all fuck!

lol - so do some editing magic and blurr whatever is needed.

I know they were saying the RS4 has some parts of the motor that are more stout than the non-FSI 4.2s…How much power can the RS4 hold on a stock block?

–I’m really thinking about getting into an RS4 within a couple years

I think both the RS4 and S5 will handle 500whp no problem, probably more. Forged rods and pistons in both motors, which may also help with the cylinder wall scoring issues (less piston expansion)

WOO HOO!

Don’t tell the B5 world though. They’ll never believe 500whp on stock block. So many of them would always point to the inability of the V8 cars to make serious power as their excuse for holding on to their B5s (the $50,000 acquisition cost aside probably had something to do with it too). This despite the fact that their OTS stage III B5s only made 380-410 whp lok. I’d always see them post 'if I could have a blown V8 making 500whp I’d sell me B5 right now and buy a ‘XXX’. Well, let’s see who steps up in 2012…beacuse that’s happening.

Dan’s getting ready to mount that blower to his Sprint Blue killer. Looking forward to seeing that happen.

They have forged rods/piston from the factory!? …Now all I need to hear is that JHM’s carbonator works, then I’m sold.

I can add some information. Part of that information is that. SOMEONE took a lot of time to put that clutch in the car and then some other people left him stranded as they went and raced the car…just saying LOL

Maybe I know what the car did at its next track visit :stuck_out_tongue:

Either way great editing and respect. Very classy thumbs up to sakimano for sharing this

The RS4’s and S5’s have much stronger supporting features so they go well with FI mods.

yeah its in the ssp. iirc the rs4 rods are a different steel alloy so its plausible they are even stronger. The high compression isnt a huge concern given the GDI. They wont handle massive boost numbers, but the flow capability of the rs4 is gonna let it make stupid power at low numbers (like a bolton S4 will too, JHM blower tested at 470whp at 7psi iirc but had to be dialed back)

So much mystery around this RS4  It’s like Keyser Söze.

Man Justin you were a tank…you had the full exhaust and transmission out and back in, basically all on your own in what looked like 1 Full Metal Jacket! Props!

What will it take to get you to spill the beans?

true…it’s a serious mystery. I think lots of it comes from the tension around that whole Arin @ APR thing…denying the existence of an outside calibrator. So comical. Telling the world what this car ran with the APR kit on it (even though it’s a JHM tune and JHM exhaust) might be seen as promoting the APR kit…and god knows they don’t deserve any free promotion.

Still, I think the JHM tune and full exhaust are a HUGE reason this grey car in the vid is so succesful. Consider these stats

best APR SC time on the old APR tune = 12.7
best APR SC time with the JHM aided tune (Keith@APR in AL on 93 oct, no back seat, and no trunk stuff) = 11.83
best ALL MOTOR time with JHM bolt ons = 12.30 (Dan @ JHM on California 91 octane FULL INTERIOR)

This tells us that the gap is 0.47 seconds from the APR record to Dan’s full bolt ons time…but Dan didn’t rice it up and take his seats out. That’s really not all that much of a gap considering there’s a $15,000 supercharger in the APR car vs about $4000 in mods on Dan’s car. I think it’s reasonable to say that on a nice cold day with 93 or 94 octane, Dan’s car could see a high 12.1. We just need to get him out to the strip!

F the tension. We (everyone here on AR) know what’s up regarding the APR S/C RS4 with the JHM tune…so spill the beans! JK’n.

Looking forward to when the cat is finally allowed out of the bag.

I’m guessing it’s one of those things we’ll eventually find out about!! Exciting times for the 8E V8’s.
