Garrett (the real one): if you don’t want to post on here, that’s fine. But I don’t see a reason to have your account banned. I mentioned your different handle on here because you registered within days of CELison, another B5 guy who used a different screen name. As I said to CEL, you’ll be fine on here by avoiding bullshit and sticking to facts. That’s really what this forum is about. So there’s nothing sinister going on here - in fact, I’m the one who requested to the site administrator that your account be approved.
Also, apparently we are a “dead forum” and this is how we revive it.
Yes exactly. We allow no advertisers, limit the fuck out of the place, continually flame these same type of people into oblivion/off the site, and the site owner only approves members who are known, and even then it can take a while or a vouch. But our new mantra is to revive the b5 section with threads like this one. This according to jesse and whatever username he is using today.
There are literally hundreds of accounts signed up and waiting who will NEVER be approved, but yes jesse you’ve got us, we are just trying to get more b5 trolls excited to come over. Like this thread? A b5 troll (you) came over under a fake name, signed up, got approved (somehow? I still don’t know how) and is now being called out and then flamed himself off the site in this thread after throwing a bitch fit a few posts back. Your first fucking post you were called out as a troll. Yes this is exactly how we want to grow the site. You’ve got us. This was the plan all along when the site owner started the site with his own money to get away from this nonsense, and started inviting us to join it.
The picture above is an s3. I’ve read so many different articles stating different outcomes for the A3/S3/RS3 lineup. Some have said they are unsure about the release of the RS in America, while others gauruntee its arrival. The one thing that is a gauruntee with the new A3 Sedan is that it will not be offered in a stick shift, unless you get the crappy a3 FWD version, which even then, a manual trans may be ruled out by the time this car hits the market. Porsche/Audi are doing away with all manual transmissions because “80%” of their customers prefer DSG/PDK
i will pretty much guarantee that if quattro makes an RS3 sedan, it will come to America
the sedan A3/S3 was basically made for America. We’re the only market in the world dumb enough to hate the utility of a hatch back/wagon and to prefer sedans. So if Audi makes an RS3 sedan, it’s not being made for germany. Germans, given the choice between the RS3 sedan and the hatch will choose the hatch 10 times before they choose 1 sedan. Same in the UK. The reality over there is that you don’t likely have a sedan for looking nice and a giant SUV for hauling your kids and strollers and dogs around. You have a hatchback or a wagon. End of it.
agreed. Either way, you have to admit that the a3 sedan looks sexy in both sedan and hatch form. And if they bring the claimed “408 hp 5 cylinder” rs3 here, wellll then goodbye b5
Only thing is, when it’s launched, you’ll have lots of options.
What would you rather have for $55,000?
a) B7 Rs4 + bolts ons + JHM supercharger = low 11s car @ 125+ on pump
b) B8 S4 + bolt ons + APR stage 3 = probably similar to the RS4 but will need race gas to do it
c) new RS3 sedan stock = 12 second car. Stage 3 and bolt ons will put you near $80,000
I agree with most of that. But I have to imagine, ~3 years from now when/if the RS3 has come out, and has the same I5 engine as the TTRS, there will be multiple options for a STG3 kit at a much cheaper price point. But as in most cases, the “cheapest” option is not to buy new to go fast, it’s to buy slightly older an upgrade. In 3 years time, a STG3 B8 will probably be the cheapest go fast option.
True but in 3 years a B8 S4 will be $20,000 and a B7 Rs4 RS4 will be close. The RS3 however will be full rocket because it’ll be new. So that math will make the RS3 look like a terrible deal. Financially anyway.
But the question was what would you rather have (assuming today those 3 options were available and they all cost around $55,000)
