Key to take with me in the water while diving?

Does anyone know if there’s a key we can get that can stand regularly getting wet, like to tuck in your wetsuit for SCUBA diving? I only got two switchblade keys when I bought my car used, so I can’t just look at one, and am wondering if a valet key would do.

As far as I know, there are two kinds of electronics in the switchblade key. The battery-powered transmitter to unlock, and the RFID passive system to de-immobilize and let you start your car. I’m more than willing to forego the remote unlock bit at the beach when I’m diving. If the valet key just has the RFID chip in it to talk to the instrument cluster and de-immo, then that might be the ticket.

Well-versed in the whole cutting and programming keys, so really just curious if the valet key could withstand frequent immersion.

Hiding my key on my car just doesn’t do it for me, looking for a Better Way.

When I surf, I lock my keys in the car and keep the plastic key with me.

“plastic key”? Please tell me more! Is this a valet key, or something else? All I really need is a key to open the door lock, as with that, I could lock the switchblade key with the immo RFID tag inside.

It’s the valet key. At least for my B6 S4 that’s what I have. Not sure if they moved to something different for the B7 RS4.

The plastic valet key will help you get in the car but it wont start the car. You can go get a plastic valet key cut for about 25bucks and just keep your normal key in the car. You can lock your car with the plastic key and leave your other key in the car for starting. If you dont like that Idea you can get an immobilizer valet key that looks like the old keys without the key pad but that cant get wet either. It would be small enough to put in a wetdry bag tho
