Knocking noise after Brake Booster Vacuum Pump replacement

2007 Audi A4 B7 Cabriolet, 3.2 v6

I had an oil leak from what looked like to be from the Brake Booster Vacuum Pump, I read it was best to replace it. So I did, the problem is that when I started the car after replacing the pump, there was a bad knocking sound, so much so I turned off the car and haven’t started it again. I saw on YouTube that you should do an oil change straight after replacing the pump. I haven’t done that, would not changing the oil cause the noise? I might be wrong but feel you can’t really put the pump in the wrong way, or can you? Has anyone else come across this problem?
