What’s the perception of the ‘Mounties’ in America? Do you guys think that’s what our cops look like with the red coats and the horses? I always assume the worst with Americans’ perception of Canada since so few of them actually make it here.
I always find it a bit weird that we trot the mounties out in the old fashioned ceremonial garb whenever the Stanley Cup or other major sporting events are held here. For one, this is what an RCMP officer ACTUALLY looks like today

Yeah we have horse mounted police here in Toronto as well. I think every major city has them as part of the municipal police department. The mounties are federal police, the equivalent to the FBI (I assume), so the only place I can see them regularly patrolling on horse back is around 24 Sussex Drive…
It was about 10-15 motorcycle cops and about 8-10 highway patrol cars with 2 helicopters. They had me stick my hand out the window for about 45 minutes while they just kept piling in and piling in and they had their guns trained on me the whole time. They had the whole highway patrol force plus Pasadena cops.

Typo I was typing from my phone. Also there are plenty of pictures of it on the Internet and every single employee at the volkswagon dealership in Pasadena has pictures of it on their phone, because it happend right across the street and everyone came out and started taking pics and videos. APR had a car show at the VW dealer a couple of months later and while I was there I had employees coming up to me all day showing me pictures of the incident and asking me what had happened. I guess people don’t forget a green car.
