^^^CF on a black car is soooo right. Looks good man
Your car looks very nice!
I just wanted to publicly say thank you to and call out an audizine forum member “fly300kts”.
It’s guys like this that help new folks to the platform and community learn about their cars.
His front bumper DIY: http://www.audizine.com/forum/showth...Bumper-Removal
Saved my ass in the middle of a snowstorm at 3am as my S4 decided to shit the bed and not start (cranks but no spark and for some odd reason my rad fans crank up on full blast when I put the ignition in Acc., as well while cranking it the cluster dimmed itself out for seemingly no reason - I’d started the car just fine, driven to meet up a friend for dinner with no issues, grabbed some food and came out to head home - crank crank crank crank… no start - then the cluster went dark and the rad fans full blast… anyone hear of this before? battery was good - no previous issues)
anyway - I wasn’t able to get to the tow hook location due to the front bumper mod (p.o.o. blocked off the access port to the tow hook in front - NEVER DO THIS EVER!!!) which resulted in having to flatbed from the rear - guess what - it’s too low and the nose is too long to get on the flat bed. I was able to pull up this DIY on my iphone, grab the tools I needed, pulled the front end off and got the car on the truck. I’d have been totally hung without this DIY.
Thank you so much - fly300kts - this is what a pro DIY’er looks like. In skydiving we do beers for firsts - I get to buy you a beer as this is the first time I’ve really turned wrenches on this car or this chassis.
Please, everyone continue to contribute to your community.
and if anyone has had a similar experience with the starting issue, please let me know.
also - thanks bangoman!
do you mean a ‘shout out’? A call out is what you do to someone who is out of line. A shout out is a big vocal thank you.
What a pain in the ass that must’ve been!
Let us know what the hell caused your car to have those weird symptoms once its resolved.
Yea, I had the side markers and headlight washers shaved off, but I definitely left the tow hook access point lol. Sucks for ya, but glad you were able to get it taken care of.
To be honest the job really was much easier then getting the bumper off my Corrado.
I will now be able to do the thing in about 15 minutes now that I know where everything is. We will see about getting it all back together but it will give me a chance to address some of the fitment issues I have with the front end. In addition, while I have it off I’ll be fixing the Tow Hook fill issue.
As for the problems with the car - I am seriously baffled and a little disappointed to be honest, there is simply no reason for it to have happened and the symptoms are just strange - all I can think is that something “burned out” and it cause an electrical issue perhaps a relay shorted out but can’t seem to figure out which it would be. I considered the Fuel Pump but am just not sure.
We will see what the shop has to say about it tomorrow.
