Paul I definitely don’t want to stop anyone from having fun but I don’t want to see the same things happen to you v10 guys that have been happening to us v8 guys. The major link to warped blocks has been that precat. The v10 motors suffer from it maybe even more then us v8 guys. You guys are building a very good strong following and after years of zero hope there is light at the end of the tunnel.
Sorry for the second post I don’t know what happened there.
I really think the v10 is going to be cracked open performance wise very soon. I just want you guys to know whatever I know that might help. I would be willing to bet depending on your mileage if you went to the track again your car would start to throw 02 codes and that’s not good.
LOL
Just wrote you a long PM regarding the o2 code, and then I see this!
So everyone knows, my car, when stock, also got an o2 code after the track visit. I had forgotten as I wasnt actually there (someone on the team drove my car for the baseline run)
I’ll let Justin explain the root cause of these o2 issues following a track visit, as he called it.
I didn’t get any lights on but maybe because I only went 1/8 mile lol. Hey Paul did you end up removing the divider things in your intake? I know it was replaced but didn’t know if you just bolted on as is or not.
Oh or its because you just used your buddy’s car and never actually went. That could be it too.
OK it’s great this happened because it could have gotten worse. You see 02 codes alot of you have a high mileage car with city driving or even casual hard driving going to the track especially if you have pre cats. There isn’t too many times you get to clean out the precat. They are only there for start up but They cause issues long after start up.
The combination of heat soaking the car and then blasting WOT till past 100 mph causes a big blast and extreme conditions past the cats. They can get purged of debris and see high Temps. This combination has to flow by the 02. So 02 can get clogged damaged or worn out.
This saw occurrence happens when people put in a catback as the 02 sensor sees extra flow and in most cases the extra flow and heat are enough to kill the aged 02
This isn’t a big deal if you can replace your 02 without pulling the motor.
If you mean the dividers in the intake runners, I pulled them!
If you mean the flaps in the intake, all is as per Audi’s brilliant plastic design.

Bumping an old thread, but Paul did you ever break into the 13s with your car?
I didn’t but I’m sure it would.
I’ve put a tune on it from my friends at CPi Tuning, and it’s running really sweet, and has a really noticeable power difference. It’s more in the power delivery than anything. Much smoother and much more punchy in the midrange.
Might be able to give it a shot tomorrow night at the weekly drags.

Paul whats the weather like there this time of year. Any new developments on that 02 code. Did it go away again after normal driving
We’re on 30-40 degrees C at the moment. But it can cool off in the evening to 20s when I’d do the run.
The update is one of my cats is melted, this is probably why I got the code. It was recurring, as you can imagine. Cat would have been like this when I did the 14.00. This cat is for Cyl 1-3.
But this is related to the fuel injector failure I am sure, rather than a 1/4 mile run or pressing too hard. Fighting with the dealer to fix it has only resulted in me vowing to never go back to that dealership (Audi Centre Parramatta)
WOw that is terrible looking. From what I have read those cats seem to fail quite often on the V10 so I dont know why they would not take care of it right away. Here in the states your covered by the government on a failed cat for like 15 years.
If you can get more pictures please let us know.
