From the looks of it, it’s GIAC. For the 3.0, GIAC sucks… Just saying lol.
The only time they were good enough to be in the 3.0 world is the early years of the PES super charger. That’s the tune our cars could actually run on with the blower without blowing up. After GIAC and PES split, PES started their own tuning program and blew up 3.0s like they were grenades…
The exhausts are well built and quality though, because those are actually from AWE
Ya. It’s mentioned in another thread but there are a few 3.0 tunes out there from back in the day
GIAC
PES (yes they have a standalone tune not for the s/c)
Unitronic
Powerchip
wetterauer
Might have missed one or two. Point is, they all just alter the throttle modulation and advance the timing. You lose gas mileage and get no performance, possibly even worse.
Exhaust looks alright, I THINK we benefit more from an X pipe though? Not 100% sure on that one.
GIAC units are available and can be installed by local places like Induktion.
Problem is Induktion techs say its minimal for the 3.0 and other tunes are better right now.
Induktion won’t say much because they sell GIAC.
As for exhaust I have LaBree high flow CATS and full 60mm Milltek. 60mm=2.43in
They sound good but not great.
Ya I saw that neuspeed video a year ago or whatever and I was really impressed. I have a slush box (auto) though and I think that may be only for a manual…
From my years of being in the 3.0 game and knowing SEVERAL guys that wanted to get ECU tunes and those that have.
in short.
GIAC
UNI
APR… They suck when it comes to these na cars. if they charged you 150$ for a tune it would be too much
There is a big difference between the abilitys of companys like GIAC/UNI/ETC.ETC. The issue stems from turbo cars and thats where companys like APR/GIAC/UNI Etc. have made there impact. Its not hard to turn up boost on a turbo car and impress people. With no boost to turn up on a NA car there isn’t the same power increese for those companys
Take JHM and the fact that they employ a ford SVT tuner that works on almost all n/a tunes. There comes a big difference in what JHM does to the tunes and why they work.
Compnays don’t put in the X section due to the fact it costs more money and they just want to make a large proffit and thats all they care about. They hope people like us wont know the difference and mention anything.
That was my plan as well, but I would really like to hear the sound of it first because i have yet to hear anything on a 3.0 that sounds good for my personal tastes. Like another guy on here said we need some VRROOOOM! not the WAAAAAA, LOL
The same companys that sell tunes that don’t do anything sell the cat back exhaust systems that for the most part don’t do anything. Without a X in your exhaust your not going to get any where near the great performance you can with one.
Yes I understand that. Just wish more companies these days ( aside from JHM ) can put more effort into products in general. Just irritating to see short cuts. I know why they do it and how it is in the business side of it, just one of those things. Like " Measure twice, cut once". haha.
it’s an even easier trend if you own a naturally aspirated car - any company that primarily focuses on turbo cars will be shit for your 3.0, 4.2, 5.2. That’s as simple as it needs to be. The performance formula for making NA power is completely different to the formula for making turbo power.
GIAC, APR, REVO, etc. while succesful with the turbo cars, absolutely sucked when it came to the naturally aspirated Audis. Milltek? They just suck at everything lol (although their shit does sound nice).
JHM? Fast Intentions? These guys all come from a passionate background racing V8 mustangs. They know how to move the needle on a naturally aspirated performance car.
Great post and thanks for being a part of this forum. I have read almost all your other posts on several other forums and Im very excited to see you here
