Letter from Audi of America

Just got my recall letter from Audi regarding the issues with the Takata airbags. I like the part where they say my car is one of the ones affected but at this time they do not have the required parts to correct the problem. Very reassuring! I have an 07 S4. anyone else get a letter yet?

They typically do recalls, required vehicle updates, etc in stages so that they don’t overwhelm everyone.

Gladly my S4 is a 2004 so I think that I am in the clear.

Manufacturers like Acura and Honda are telling their customers to stop driving their vehicles and provide rentals…

Our 2012 Q5 is on the list.

Is the TT-RS on the list?

I received my letter a few weeks ago. Recommendation is no front passenger until a solution is available.

yes, got mine. Great eh?

Oh, so the airbag may blowup, send shrapnel into my face and neck at 120 mph…but we’re just going to have to wait a year to fix it.

Basically this letter is saying 'don’t crash or you may survive the crash thanks to the airbag and car safety…then die thanks to the airbag parts.

FTFY

lol I would love to re-read my letter…if it really said not to use the front seat like lexus, I think I have a good case to take the car to Audi, drop it off, and leave it there till they fix it. While driving a loaner car.

^^ it is pretty remarkable that’s the interim “solution” Lexus came up with. I had to read it a second time to make sure it was real

yeah its real alright. lol parts are not expected to be available until december is what I am hearing. Even then, they will control the amount we can order per week. Mostlikely my dealer will be like 2 per week. Other bigger ones may be like 4 a week.

we have a recall for the GX460 right now too where the curtain airbag may deploy 4 seconds after start up. Still not remedy for that one

hahahaha that could really ruin your Saturday night

Anytime that I see something like that it reminds me of the time that one of the Porsche techs flipped an airbag control module upside down in a Cayenne. He had the key on so the car deployed everything.
