Light Out Message in Cluster

I keep getting a message in my cluster saying left side DRL is out.

Except that when I look at the front of my car, all 5 LEDs are lit up just fine on both sides.

What would be a cause of a mis-indicated light out error? First thing comes to mind to me is moisture up in the housing causing some sort of havoc, but I was wondering if y’all seen this or something similar and can point me in the right direction.

Thanks!

Usually the moisture codes you can clear by running the head lights for a while then turning them off and back on again. worth a shot.

The error could be a connection issue. That has been the sorce of all the reporting faults I have seen for head light or brake lights.

Exactly what is the warning you’re getting? Are you sure it’s for the DRL and not for your amber corner lamp in the bumper?

That warning light is not because of a problem with the 5 LED’s. That warning light is from a burnt bulb in one of the amber side marker lights in the bumper. It is located slightly below and to the rear of the headlight washer on the corners of the bumper.

I had that exact message and it really confused the hell out of me as I couldn’t see any burnt bulbs in the headlights or in the 5 LED’s.

Why Audi chose to call that light a DRL is beyond me and makes not sense.

But it is a simple cheap bulb to fix this. Just pull the old one out, get a new one with the same bulb number and the message will go away.

Ahhh. That makes sense. I have my sidemarker lights blacked out so that would explain why I haven’t noticed anything different. If I have time this weekend I’ll get it into service position and take a look at the lights.

can also disable this light in Vagcom.
