Lightest 19inch wheels available?

Wasn’t thread about wheels? lol, I run a set of Neuspeed RS-10’s that are 19x8.5 et 35 and weigh in just under 20lbs. The tires I went with are Conti Extreme Contact DW 245/35/19 and those weight about 20.5lbs. In total it should be about 41lbs per corner. The RS-10’s can be hard to find though because I believe they’re discountinuted. I got mine from Supreme Power and they were about $1500 for the set.

Here’s a crappy cell pic of them on my car. Stock suspension.

Jupiter: Nov 10, 11 @ VIR http://www.pcc-acna.org/index.php?option=com_registrationpro&view=event&Itemid=0&did=43

Also, anytime you want to hit Road Atlanta, hit me up! I wanna hit one this fall if I can squeeze it in. Also, I’ll be driving up to VIR…if you wanna caravan…Let me know! Love the wheels!

You guys are lucky. For us up north, at those dates, our tracks are closed and covered with snow. :frowning:

^^^ very true but this time of year the heat is torture on the car.

Badblue, where are you located?

Thanks for the pic and addt’l option, I’ll look into those puppies as well. The weight on the conti’s seems low for 19’s.

ATL…yeah track right now is brutal with the heat and humidity! No thanks!!! My oil temp would get up to 280 when I hit summit point 2 weeks ago…LOL

Yeah Jupiter…I may drive down to West Palm in the next few months…My in-laws live down there…I’ll hit u up if I do.

Let me know, could always catch a day at PBIR!

Yeah I heard about that place! Plus I wanna see this guy to do my headlights down there.

You’ve never been to a track, eh? Quattro, especially the variant aboard the B6/B7 S4 and B7 RS4, is garbage. Utter garbage. It’s fair in the rain, but it’s not even all that good at that compared to a real sporting AWD system (unless you leave ESP on, but then you’re probably not racing, are you?). Audi/Quattro cars have a very tough time in racing series against RWD cars; the weight imbalance and overall curb weight do pretty much kill the car against the rest of the field. I will say that a good suspension setup can help counteract the weight imbalance, though, along with proper weight reduction and proper placement of ballast.

As for comments about oversteering off the track and not being able to drive in the rain . . . those are generally junior, amateur problems.

he’s talking about junior, amateur drivers though squiddy. That’s what everyone in this thread is, including you.

Although his generalizations are pretty silly. Comparing the GTR at 53:47 and saying it is nose heavy thus nose heavy is pretty good is comical. The B6/7 S4 is 62:38, and the RS4 is around 59:41 or 58:42. Nothing like the GTR, and a light year from a proper 50:50 weight distribution. A little nose-heavy induced understeer might help the car stop the trunk passing the hood in a turn, but certainly doesn’t make you any faster.

4:1 center diff coupled with proper suspension helps a ton with the diff being the major factor allowing the car to rotate and exit turns more efficiently. I’m referring to the B5 here not the B7 as I don’t have the center diff in the B7.

So you have a 2005.5?

Nope, I have an 01 and an 08. Why? Is the t3 on the 08’s 4:1?

Lol

He said he was referring to a B5.

No he referred to his b7 not having the diff…even though it has a proper t3 like the rs4.

From wikipedia for what its worth…

quattro

Another focus of the B7 RS 4 was on the introduction of the latest development of Audi’s ‘trademark’ quattro permanent four-wheel drive system. [5][6] This utilised the ‘third generation’ asymmetric/dynamic [6] Torsen [5][6] T-3 ‘automatic torque biasing’ (ATB) centre differential, featuring a ‘default’ 40:60 front-to-rear torque split under normal conditions. Audi stressed that this would result in a more neutral response in corners, and a more dynamic driving experience. Also, a more aggressive Torque Bias Ratio (TBR) was used, and set to 4:1, as opposed to 2:1 (and later variants 3:1 TBR) on standard A4. [citation needed] That means that one side of the differential can handle up to 80%, while the other side would have to only handle 20% of applied torque.

Yeah I’ve read the wiki before, thanks for that though. Others will find it informative too I’m sure.

What am I missing? The first post on this page says he’s referencing the B5. I read page 1 & 2 too, what did I miss?

I know why you made the statement you did, I get the errors/confusion members have had regarding which vehicles have which diff etc. I jsut can’t find where Jupiter made the same mistake. Help a blind brother out and point it out to me. Seriously, I think I missed it.

I think it was in this sentence no?

“I’m referring to the B5 here not the B7 as I don’t have the center diff in the B7.”

On a side note, I assume you guys have done or at least seen corner weights for this car, and I have not seen any. But in Audi’s published specs, they wrote 53/47 weight distribution. That sounds like a pipe dream to me for a car with the engine completely in front of the front axle line, but for clarity, would you please confirm that the 62/38 you’re referring to was a measurement and not a cut sheet?

FWIW, 2007/8 B7 S4’s did get the T3 center diff from the RS4, much like B8 S4’s now quietly have the crown gear center diff and launch control of some of the more expensive cars.

When I put these wheels on the difference was very noticeable. The car just felt more agile and willing to turn. They’re not easy to find now but they popup in the classifieds every so often. 20lb forged wheels for less than half the price of the well known brands.
