Logging before awe cold front install

Hey guys. Want to get some ideas on this. I decided to get the heat exchanger and the reservoir from AWE. Really enjoying trying to get the most out of the car and think this should help a bit, we’ll until DSG tune released. I picked up the kit this morning and am going to do the install on sat. I am thinking of getting some before and after logs to share but want to see what you guys think for data to log
I am thinking, rpm, speed, iat, ambient temp.

Is there a block for coolant temp? I know there is a value on the p3 gauge so It must be there.
Anything else just let me know. Figure I would do some on my way to work when the car is cool and then later on the way home once it’s hot out and engine is up to full temp.

Then I will repeat this same stuff after the install.

Excited to do the install. Oh I also got the protection screen and is at my shop being powder coated black!

might get one of those infrared laser thermometers, and take some heat measurements at different places before and after (on the sc, hoses, in and out of the he)

Good stuff man… I’d grab maf, timing, and retard in some cylinders also… Then you can compare knock against similar rpm, iat, airflow, etc. yeah, there is a coolant temp… Don’t have my PC at home will look fri/sat if you don’t find it… Don’t bother with ambient just make sure to get it before the testing and try to do the follow up while minimizing the variable changes… Ie as close temp, humidity and bp, same roads, test the same gears and speeds, etc

An instant how to with pictures might be fun and help others.

I think jsoazz made one

Is it on here or AZ?

Track times after AWE COldfront install
So ever since I upgraded to the Revo pulley and hit up the drap strip I have been consumed by getting better and better times. After much research on the forums and seeing other B8 s4s perform on I decided that the two things that were missing were the DSG tune and a better SC coolant system. I was lucky enough to get a great deal on the AWE coldfront system and resevoir. I decided that i was going to takle the install with my freind, some pizza, and a few beers. So far i have gone to the track 3 times. I have posted about both of those in another thread. Here i want to compare and give my thoughts on the SC coolant system. First my “butt dyno” result. During the hot days the car just feels stronger, since the two coolant systems are seperate now the engine isnt heating up the coolant to 200 degrees right away. now for the real stuff(i am going to edit with pictures from my phone shortly after i post this.
also after i got back from the track last night i realized the date/time was all messed up since i was not on the track in the future as it says.

both are these slips are REVO stage 1+ 93 map with 93 octane. DA was very close fuel level for both runs were the same as i got the the track both times with the light on so i could fill up with some race gas. the only real change was the Coolant system. left was at englishtown in July and the right was last night at island dragway.

These next slips are Both Revo 1+ switched to race gas map. both times I had 93 103 mix in the tank. Both times the tank was about 1/2 full after purchasing the race fuel. the sheet on the left was from Waterfest. DA was around 1015 this Run. I was hot lapping and did 6 runs in about 1.5 hours. The DA last night was not as favorable and there is less data from out at that track but from Dragtimes. at 8 pm it was 2100 and and 9pm it was 1550 so i assume when i did the run at 8;30 is was in between those two times. There was nobody there so i was only waiting 4 minutes between my runs and the car was consistantly fast. the guy at the time slip both was laughing since i kept getting faster. Best time was 12.265 but the other 4 runs were just a little slower.

Once the weather is right Revo 1+ is going to be just as fast as any of the APR stage 2 cars. I am hoping to have the DSG tune done tomorrow so ill be able to get some times with that next week and report back

Dang the pictures didn’t copy here is the link.
Things didn’t pan out for the logging unfortunately but got some pretty decent 1/4 mile results

Any chance you could disclose what the damage was on the AWE cold front system? Maybe via PM?

I asked AWE about a price on vendorzine and got some ridiculous reply like “we never discount our parts…” even though they have an annual xmas sale.

Awesome bud! Glad you are pushing the car and getting results, it’s a fun process… Car will go faster with better air no doubt… So is this a revo dsg flash you’re getting? Details? Really interested to see how much that helps…

Also, what rims you running? Lw rotors? 104 tune available? All these add up and should help you get in the same range as the apr and GIAC cars…

You log the passes? Wouldn’t mind checking them out…

Good stuff! +karma

Sorry, missed the wheels, what do those weigh? Also, your .3ish and 3mph delta between 93 - 100 tune is pretty consistent to what others see…

Prime, glad you reminded me I wanted to weight the wheels when I had off for the install. I just popped on off and threw it on the scale. The stance sc5ive 19 x 9.5 wrapped in hancook ventus v12 255/35/19. Weight 54.3 lbs each. So not light weight at all. In contrast I put my winter setup… Peelers with blizzak 225/40/19. They were 55.4 lbs each.
Still on stock rotors and pads so lw rotors may be in my future when these need replacing.
Prime what does your wheel tire setup weigh?

I have one log but let my tablet on and it died after the first run ill check it out tomorrow at work and see if I got anything.

No 104 tune just 91,93, race

As far as the DSG tune it will be revo as well, they are just now sending the info to the dealers and prepping all the files for the different DSG revisions. Looks like it will be similar to giac. Increased redline for 8.5, launch control to 4k, changes software torque converter to allow more, and quicker smoother shifts. I will be sure to review as soon as I get. I have some recent videos of some 0-xx runs and will do more when I get the tune to compare.

Yeah, those aren’t much lighter than stock… My bbs ch-r’s at 19x8.5 ET 32 with 245-35-19 contis weigh 47lbs, stockers were 58lbs…

I have the brembo bbk up front which are 8lbs lighter (41 vs 33) and jhm’s out back which are 5.6lbs lighter (17.2 vs 11.6) per side…

Be neat to compare the 104 tune timing to race on revo…

Cool on the dsg tune… Be neat to see what it does for as you’ll need better 60s

Shoot me the log if it saved…

Wow yeah that’s a lot of un sprung weight you got rid of. Once my wallet re cooperates from this stuff I will have to look into something maybe even start with lw rotors.
I will make sure to get logs next time on race map.
I just can’t get that 60’ better on the track for some reason. And my 0-60 are all in the 4 seconds. When on the street coming home I got a 3.7!!!
The 60 was consistent using LC and the “mash” method so I am hoping the increased rpm on the DSG tune will get me closer to your territory.
Also very few runs my 1-2 shift seems slow my wife actually said she noticed it from the side. I am hoping this is also fixed.

It’s addicting and expensive trying to get better and better!

Good work and congrats on the times.
