For the record, I do like the RS4, but I already have my hands full of old German cars at this point. I would easily consider the new RS4, if it ever came, over making my car a stage III B8 S4.
I don’t expect any positive responses from this, but just wanted to cap this thread (for myself, anyway) in saying yes, I’m ashamed.
I don’t normally get dragged down to this level of stupid bickering (and name calling, of which I try to refrain - that weakens anyone’s argument in my books). I usually sit back and laugh while I watch people hate on others for seemingly nothing. The hate-on I’ve seen for quite a few AZ members and several shops is truly sad, especially some of them that are sharing information about their experiences and modifications for all of us, and we’re ALL reading their posts and gathering information. The “hated” ones I’ve met, PM’d or emailed are never the awful people some would like to make them out to be. And a lot of you know this already, but might laugh and sometimes approve when they get hated on. I’ll just say I think the attitude is awful, and is what made me say what I said on AZ. I’m sorry to have said it publicly and I got myself dragged into this.
Saki was right about one part, that everyone feels their platform is superior to other platforms. To me, calling that issue out in hate and calling people names and claiming people have diseases is completely childish, and thus me claiming Saki must also have B7RS4itis is just as gay. He can go on saying B8S4itis, if he likes, but I’ll stop publicly wishing he’ll stop and avoid becoming Saki-bait, to hopefully stop confrontations like this again. Hopefully, in return, Saki, you’ll stop posting confrontational threads here, too, hell-bent on arguing with me, be it race gas or platform pride.
What’s funny is the accusations - anyone who knows me knows I frankly don’t feel the B8 S4 is all that compelling, especially in DSG - it’s actually already gotten quite boring. I never pick it first to go to the track with, because again, stock-for-stock it’s typically 7 seconds slower around my local big track than my normal track car (which oddly enough, has only ever done a 8:16.15 around the 'ring - figure that and tell me why i should listen to those times). But, it’s the newest and fastest car (in a straight line) that sits in my driveway right now, that’s all.
It’s more than likely the S4 will get traded this year, likely for an X5M for my wife (or similar car that can haul kids and dog to the cottage, and is not boring). And believe it or not, stock-for-stock the X5M will keep up with the S4 (and RS4) around the track. Quote some magazines articles for us all, but I won’t bother to look, because I’ve been there. I’d absolutely encourage everyone to do the same before making dragstrip-like lap-time claims about the road course. I’ll likely hold out on another car, until a GT3 is comfortably within my financial reach.
I completely agree with you. I have also been dragged down to that level on Audizine by haters of my car as well. We just all have to be happy with what we have and not let Jealous ass people bring us down to their level. It is however fun arguing with someone on a forum and sometimes when things get heated you end up typing something that you might not be pleased with an hour later. You have an awesome car thats much faster then almost any stock non-supercar from 15 years ago, that is an impressive feat.
